My summer is half over and, as usual, time is running away. So, I'll get this thread started for next year. Teachers in my school go back Aug 1 for a few days. We are then off until kids come back Aug 15.
Teachers go back August 3rd, students first day is August 8th. I go back July 19th for summer grant work, then training on our evaluation system for a few days until my contract starts on July 28th (I'm a mentor teacher and part of the leadership team so I have to go back earlier than other teachers).
I've only been finished since last Thursday, so I'm not even thinking yet about going back. Students start on the Tuesday after Labour Day, September 6th. We have no mandatory days before then. I'll be in for 2 days or so the week before we start.
September 1 for teachers (although I have other trainings over the summer, mainly in August), September 7 for students
Teachers- August 1st Students-August 8th It's been a great summer, but now I need to get some things in order before we go back.
August 1st - get my keys, first day in my classroom August 5th - meetings begin August 10th - students return!
Teacher in-service: Monday, August 29th Para Meeting/Training: Wednesday, August 31st ** this is when I go back! School starts: Thursday, September 1st
Me too. (Return in Mid-August.) I love my summer. I get kind of anxious about fitting everything I want to do in the world into two little months (even though this is obviously not realistic)!
41 days - Teachers are back in action August 15. Freshmen show up 8-17. All students 8-18. I know that there's a couple of staff meetings and a dreaded open house somewhere in there, too!
I agree...I hate this thread. Ha I just got a back to school flyer and was upset! Ha again. We go back Aug 29 and kids Sept 1. Some of you sure have a lot of days without kids.
Like MrsC, I only finished on Thursday! We have 2 PD days after Labour Day and then students start September 8. I do have a meeting on August 31 that I need to be at.
New teacher orientation starts August 5th for me. Returning teachers start the 11th. Students return on the 22nd!
My school got a literacy grant this year and we have to go back one day earlier than everyone else, on August 4th. I'm not upset because we'll be paid for the extra day and I really need the money! Students start on August 11th. I have two training days later in July that I have to go to since I am getting a teacher resident. Again, not too bummed about that because I'm getting a stipend for having the resident.
Teachers - August 15 Students - August 24 We have a lot of work days this year because we are moving into a newly constructed campus. I'll be in well before August 15 - whenever I can, which is rumored to be August 1st or so.
After labor day for me. I got a week to myself, and I've been doing a full time job (more than full time) 5 days a week which will run 6 weeks. Then I think I get most of August to move and enjoy myself. But right now, I'm dog-tired and busy.
Peregrin 5, I admire your dedication! Next year will you be teaching in Cali or Oregon? The reason I ask is because I remember how you were saying on another thread that you may be moving to Oregon. But if you do happen to move, Cali's loss is Oregon's gain!
I have two days of training July 12 and 13. Then I have trainings almost daily starting July 25, so between training and getting my room ready, im counting that as my first day back. Our official contract starts August 8, with kids August 15.
August 5th for teachers and August 8th for students. I feel like my summer is over because Monday I will begin a 12 day PD project including Saturdays, but we will receive a nice stipend. I have another PD on the 25th then the next few days are mine. I basically have my classroom in the order I want it except my parent letter, running off, and things of that nature.
August 1, building opens for teachers (admin/counselors start) August 15, teachers return August 22, students return
August 8 (Monday) for teachers, and that Thursday is 1st day of school. This is the first time we start on a Thursday, it's always been Monday. I love it! 2 days are perfect to get back into structure, then have a weekend to sleep it off and Monday really get going. We're moving schools, so I've already visited my new classroom, a bit overwhelmed how I want to set it up. I still need my things moved from the old classroom, so Monday I'm going to old school, put stickies on everything I want moved, then put stickies on everything I want out of new room and then I'll feel better
Year 39. Not sure how many more I can do. Too much August heat to start each year. I heard you got a new job and/or school. I saw Ray C. retired.
