I always spend a small fortune my classroom but this year I am getting one surprise after another.

I was about to buy a $20 pocket chart stand when I stopped to talk to a retiring teacher. She gave me hers.

I needed a new bookshelf and there one was with a take me sign right by the teacher's lounge.

My best friend decided not to continue with teaching so she gave me all her stuff including a full everyday math grade level 1 kit-something I really wanted.

Anyone else feel like it must be a gift giving holiday? I hope so.

The mom of one of the teachers at my old school is also a teacher, and she is retiring. Her daughter brought a ton of her stuff to school, free for the taking. A lot of it was really great stuff, too. It was wonderful!

I was giving things away left, right and centre for the last week of school. I have too much stuff and not enough places for it. I had boxes for 2 of my good friends who are both moving to new grade levels and several people who were walking by my room left with armloads of folders, resource books, etc. There will be lots more given away the last week in August when I get back in to school.

I received a $150 scholastic order delivered to my house this morning! So exciting! I won a $150 gift certificate to scholastic from entering a contest. Much appreciated when moving to a new classroom/grade level!

Everyday is Hannukah when you join freecycle! I just got a doll carriage for my class, a toy vacuum cleaner, craft supplies, and 78 big books! My total cost was less than $30, and it was all on transportation!

I'm so thankful there are people who still like to give away unused stuff.
