I purchased 60 composition books at Walmart today for 50 cents each - they now come in colors! I got 20 each of yellow, orange, and green - going back after payday for red and blue! Interactive notebooks - here I come!
Darn, our Wal-mart (here in Smalltown SF Bay Area, California) hasn't gotten their comp books in yet.
Glad you were able to get what you needed so cheap since so many of your students don't come with supplies. If you can believe this, there is no Wal-Mart close to me.
MissCeliaB - they may have had some out, but I was focused on the composition books, lol, and the poor girl who was charged with stocking the shelves was trying to get other departments to come get their stuff! iteachbx - we have plenty of Walmarts, even a couple of Office Depots, 2 Targets and an Office Max, but no Staples, lol!
I love Staples. But Target is my favorite in general, not just for school supplies. I recently saw an ecard that said, "now if Target just had a bar then it would have everything." Love that place.
Thanks for the heads up, PWhatley! I just had a funny thought. If anyone (who isn't a teacher) read some of our posts, they'd think, "Wow...teachers are waaaaaay too easily excited!" :haha:
They have the spiral notebooks (1 subject, 70 or 80 pages) for $0.17 each! Their $0.92 binders are back and they have packs of 20 pencils for $0.97. One of the displays listed the pencils as $1.47, but luckily they rang up 50 cents cheaper! School supplies are the most wonderful time of the year! You could tell who the teachers were roaming the aisles and looking like vultures as the Walmart staff members were trying to unload boxes. Quite funny!
School supplies are surely my shopping addiction (well, and purses)! I bought 60 of the comp books (I have 54 students next fall, 2 classes) to start interactive notebooks with! BUT, do you guys ever find yourself wanting the silly stuff they have on display? I almost bought a ninja turtles comp book today...lol, nostalgia I guess. And my walmart had this huge display of Crayola crayons that were separated by color. For instance, there was an 8-pack for $.78 that had every shade of brown/peach you could want (good for drawing diverse people I guess!) and another pack with every shade of red, and so on. I mean, how silly, right? But I wanted every pack!
My name is Ms. C and I am also a school supply-aholic. I currently live in a city that is 35 miles from the nearest Staples and it is killing me! I can't wait until the end of the month when I move back to a much larger city with several of them. I need to pick up a new composition book or 30 so I can work on my own writing journal for next years kids. I have plans to make a Harry Potter one like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/272467846178533835/
I will also admit that my favorite day of the week is Thursday. It when the office supply stores generally release the sales ad online for the following week.
