Just curious - what ideas have your schools come up with to help the people of Haiti?

If your school has not done anything, what ideas do you have?

Our special ed director and his wife, who teaches Pre-K, are adopting a child. They had tried earlier, but the paper work would not go through. With the earth quake everything has happpened fast because they don't have food for the kids at the orphanage. They were robbed. They were called yesterday morning needing pictures of the child and she flew out this morning to meet the child in Miami. What a great answer to God's prayer and it was in his time frame.

We received a big donation for whatever we would like. Since Catholic Schools week is coming up, we decided to use it then and use the money to buy food. We are also asking for donations for to send with they food. Our school has an overabundance of school supplies. So we are setting a school supplies drive to send to a school over in Haiti.

We're having 2 spirit days this week... Pajamas and Snuggies day tomorrow, Spririt Day (blue/white and school apparel) on friday. They're asking anyone who participates to donate something to the relief fund. (Even if it's a few pennies, not all of our families have much money).

Our jr. high has been sponsoring 3 children from an orphanage in Haiti for the past several years... all 3 children are OK. :)

The kids at my church are collecting items for health kits, which will be sent over at a later date (ziplock baggies, bandaids, soap, washcloths, etc).

My daughter's high school is doing a shoe drive--collecting shoes in good condition that they are shipping to a contact in Haiti.

Tomorrow we're having a one day collection.

No pajamas, no jeans, no hats-- the kids get nothing in return. We're passing an envelope around in homeroom. The kids were told today.

In the past, we've had a lot of great results doing this. I'll let you know how much we collect.

Everyone is asked to bring as many 10 peso coins as they can tomorrow and we are going to try to cover a large map of Haiti with as many layers of coins as possible. Then, the money will be sent to a teacher's son who is a missionary in Haiti right now. The money will be used for food, etc.
