I was so happy to see that my new classroom at my new school is right next to some bathrooms! At my last school, I had to walk soooo far away to a bathroom. I think my classroom was definitely the furthest form one, so it made it hard if I wanted to go quickly or in between classes. Maybe this will be a pain if kids are noisy in there or if I can hear it flush in my classroom, so maybe my excitement will change.

Also, at my last school, since it was an architectural design that was supposed represent the Native American culture, they put the parking lot really far away so it wasn't right next to this beautiful, natural looking building and ruining the scenery/view. It was a pain to carry stuff in and out. Now, I don't have that problem. My class is easy to get to. Plus, my last classroom was on the second floor, so it was even harder to carry in things. I haven't toured much of the building, so I don't know what else I'm close to.

Well, I am now in the same building as a bathroom (and the copier). I wasn't my first year.
I am across the hall from the guidance counselor. She helps me keep my sanity some days!

I am located on the second floor in the last hallway at the very end, which I love! There is a set of stairs right by my classroom that leads to the playground. I am also 2 doors down from a faculty bathroom and workroom. The student bathrooms on the other hand are all the way in the 5th grade hall, which is on the other side of the second floor.

Same here! Last year I worked at an elem school that had 2 buildings-- the classroom building, and the office building (main office, nurse, caf., gym, etc.). There were no faculty bathrooms in the classroom building!

Not at all. I'm a ways from the teacher's bathrooms...by the time I make it to them through the throngs of students, the bell has already rung. Sometimes, I'll go into the elem. building which is right out the door and go to the little kids bathroom.

I'm closer to the elem copier than the high school copier (so I use it if I forget things).

And I'm right next to the outside door so there are flies galore in my room.

    But I wouldn't move rooms.

My classroom is in a great location, because it's the first room in my wing of the building on the first floor. I am right next to the teachers' bathrooms, and very close to the faculty work room and library. The only down side to my room location is that my principal can always see directly into my classroom from his desk! That has never been a problem, though...lol

I can get to the teacher's parking lot from the exit at the end of my wing, but I usually don't go out that way because I like to check my mailbox in the office one last time before walking out for the day.

I'll have to really be on it with classroom management with her office right across from mine:help::lol:

The only drinking fountain in our hallway is just a few feet away from my classroom door, which is great, because when students ask to go get a drink, they really shouldn't be out in the hall for more than a few seconds, and if they are, I can just stick my head out the door to get them back in the room.

My school building is quite small, so no one is really 'far' from anything... I love being so close to my colleagues!

Same. Although we have 750 students, the building is quite compact--doesn't take longer than 2 minutes to get anywhere.

I think our setup is mostly convenient... my only complaint is that there's only 1 faculty restroom for 20 teachers, so I use the student restroom. The workroom is in another building, but now that we have a printer for every five teachers, it's not as bad as it was two years ago!

The copy room is right across the hall. I'm on the second floor, but the office, cafeteria, and allied arts wing of the school are right down the stairs and around the corner, which I like, although I can hear a slight roar from the cafeteria during lunches. The only thing I don't like about being so close to the stairs is I can easily have kids wrapped all down the stairs and in the classroom when we are going somewhere. It makes it hard to keep an eye on everyone. I had a kid at the end of the line double back and steal $200 from me one year. He would go through my purse on the one day that my dear MIL dropped some money off for me to give to my husband. Nothing in my classroom locks and I have since gotten a small file cabinet that locks for my personal items.

I'm on the first floor which is great, and only two doors down from my AP's office. We're not close to the bathroom, but I can see the bathrooms, which is useful for sticking my head out into the hallway to see what the kids are up to. The kids' bathrooms always smell gross so I'm glad I'm not too close. I can also see the school security guard at the front of the school which can also come in handy. I like my classroom location a lot. The only thing I don't like is that there's this ledge outside the window (from the cafeteria downstairs) so even though we face the schoolyard I can't see into the schoolyard. In my old classroom my 1st year I was able to peek at the kids out there during recess and see what they were up to.

I am across from the planning room which has a mini fridge (I can eat a squeeze yogurt in about 10 seconds if I need a quick snack. lol) and the copier/printer, which has been a blessing. I am also in the same hall as everyone else in my department, which is both a blessing and a curse (we just get sick of each other some times). I am also close to both the boy's and girl's BR and water so that is good.

At my last job, I was right by the BR and nurse, which was nice. They took good care of me if I didn't feel well, especially one year when I had a lot of health problems.

We're a small school, so I'm not too far from anything. The office is at the other end of the school. It's shaped like a "T", and the office is at the bottom; my classroom is on the top left. We were super excited last year to get a copier/printer and fridge in the storage room on our end!

I'm close to a teacher's bathroom (although so are about 6 other teachers... we tend to have to wait for it!). I'm also close to the exit where I park, so that's nice when I have a lot to carry.

But I'm eons away from the workroom, microwave, office... pretty much everything else I ever need. :0)

I am close to the Main Office, Nurse's Office, CST Office, and Bathrooms. I go down 20 stairs to get to the copier room. It is right underneath my classroom. Very convenient! Love where my room is. It is an original to the building. I have wooden floors and swinging doors for my walk-in closets.

I'm right next door to the assistant principal's office. The water fountain is right across from my room, and the teacher's copier is in the workroom across the hall.

I'm also close to the main stairwell, so I get noise from there. I don't like that too much.

I am about 10 seconds from the gym, and right across the hall from the 1st floor bathrooms. I do not consider this a good thing, though, since these are the 2 loudest places! My windows also face the playground, so I can't open them. They should just put the cafeteria on the other side of my room, and I would be all set!

The kids' restroom is literally five steps from my classroom, so it's really convenient for my students.

I'm near the office, which I like. Easy access to my mail box and admin. I'm also right across from the library. As an English teacher, I love this. We go every other week, and when it's time to go back, I just send the kids to the room. No lines needed.

Other than that, though, I'm far from everything. There are no other teachers in my area. The parking lot is a zillion miles away. The bathrooms (of which there aren't many for adults anyway) are really inconveniently far. And it's lonely. But hey, there's a library!
