Hi! This is my 1st year in 3rd... when I taught 1st and 2nd I would hand out at parent night a VERY informative packet called "The ABCs of Second Grade." I got the idea from someone here I think!! It was fun. "t" is for tardiness... "U" for uniform policy... etc etc... Is that idea too immature for my grade 3 parents? Thank you.
I don't think so but I would love to see the packet you put together. I think it sounds like a great idea!
Thank you. It was not my idea to begin with but I will gladly pass it along and feel free to use it all or modify it for your classroom's needs. It was really fun to make and it was more interesting for me to make than a checklist... trying to remember what I did for "x" and "z!!!"
Funny... I was actually about to post this same question. I'm also a 3rd grade teacher. I want to re-do my classroom packet and was thinking of putting the topics in alphabetical order. I really felt like "The ABCs of 3rd grade" is too babyish for them. I would love to hear ideas for other titles. Thanks!
I too think that is a great idea for third grade and would love to see it. Could you post it to me too? Thanks.
I don't think its babyish at all. Its giving the info you want the parents to have. Plus it breaks it down in an easy to read format.
I will be happy to share the ABCs of Second Grade that I used last year. Can someone please tell me how to share it? Do I just Private Message folks who'd like to see it? I think I'll use it again this year --
This sounds cool. I will be teaching 6th grade and would love to use this idea. Does anyone have an example????
this is a great idea. How about we all give some examples here or start a new forum post. We could just go through the alphabet and give examples. I can start (i think, lol) A Absences... B Behavior...
You should use it again. You could even teach a writing lesson over it. The students could write the ABCs for different things or themselves.
I really like this idea too! I don't think it's babyish at all. I would also like to see some examples of this. I teach fourth grade and I think it's a great way to get information to families and it's organized!
Could you put yours here? I'm a first year teacher and i'm teaching 5th grade and not really sure what to do as far as a parent letter.
Bes, that's a great idea; but why don't you put this thread in the GAMES folder here?? I'm sure everyone would love to play!
Okay I am attempting to copy/paste. Please know that it looks cooler on paper, but this will give you the general idea. Wellll my version of MS Word is being uncooperative, but I found a teacher's site with a similar ABC... She used it for first grade. http://www.mrscampbell.com/ABCs of First Grade.htm If we are not allowed to post links here that are not our own, I am so sorry and will delete it! Thanks!
This is cool! I make a Smart Board file to use on Back to School Night, that would be a great theme for the file!!!
SOOO not my area of expertise. But I think I would put it together, then evaluate. If too many are a stretch to come up with, then I think I would go another route.
