So, I ended up declining the first position I was offered. It just was not for me - I could not take a job for sake of taking a job. It's not like an office job where I could take it and keep shopping around. I also could not be in an environment with no walls or windows at all for a year. I would go crazy. Turns out it was the best decision I made. This morning I got a call from the school I interviewed at on Thursday (the one I realllllly wanted) and I GOT IT!! Well, I have to pass my background check and physical first, but that won't be an issue. I AM SO EXCITED! Teaching 4th grade!! I have orientation on Monday, development Tuesday/Wednesday then off Thursday/Friday, which I will be setting up my classroom It is a limited one-year contract, but the P said in the spring he would assess enrollment and see if I could switch grades or stay 4th. He said the Title 1 person they hired last year ended up becoming permanent. However, my ultimate goal is to get into the district I coach/live in, so this could be a great stepping-stone for that. Weirdest story every, though - one of my good friends just moved up here to work in a nearby district (the one I declined, actually) and I showed her the pictures of the 4th grade teachers of the school I interviewed at and she points to one and goes, "This person is now working at my school. You were meant for this job." What are the odds the person whose spot I'm filling is now working with my friend!?! Too funny. Anywho - just wanted to post a little update that everything does happen for a reason!! AND to those not yet with an offer - it can still happen! I literally was called two Fridays ago for the interview this past Thursday, then got the job Monday. Now on to trying to plan for my classroom!! Yippeee!!
