Hello, I have thought for some time that if I could create my own job I would love to work for a school district developing and implementing environmental education programs for all the elementary schools and/or junior high/high schools. I had never heard of such a position except at a charter school that uses a place based curriculum. However, today I was talking to someone today who I have worked with on my masters program. He said that some school districts here in Utah are beginning to look at doing just that, creating a position for an environmental education specialist. I am hoping that with the push for each state to write an Environmental Literacy Plan that hiring a specialist to help implement that plan will become a reality. Have any of you heard of such a thing in your state/district? Thanks so much!
