Is promoting my tutoring profile through tutoring service a good idea?

I am private tutor and i like to promote my tutor profile to get more tutoring opportunities. Is promoting through tutoring service a good idea?

They'll charge you for the priveledge.

So I wouldn't. I would go directly to schools, put up flyers at libraries (if they'll let you; ours won't unless you're a non profit), and laundrymats and the supermarket.

Why share your money with a 3rd party??

I tutor in my home. I used to drive to student's homes but I'd like to work with kids back to back this year so I'm in the works of finding more kids!

I list on Craigslist under lessons/services at the bottom, care.com and sittercity.com (these are all free if you are the person looking for work) You make a profile and select the types of jobs you want and can also search by zip codes. Good luck!

Like what Alice said, most of the tutoring websites take some portion of your pay. Those sites are a great way to meet those in need of tutoring, though. I used to have my profile on a tutoring site, and met the current student I tutor. After the initial interview, his parents asked me about how the website works and I told them that 40% is taken from their payment and they didn't care for that. So, they decided to just pay me directly.
