Is it possible that the riffed teachers could be interviewing for the job I am?

HI, I was told 2 weeks ago that interviews would not be scheduled until the teachers that were riffed were placed. ONe week later I was called for an interview scheduled for this Wednesday. I am wondering if it is possible that I will be interviewing against any of those riffed teachers. I was offered three time slots to choose from all within a half hour of each other and in the evening. I assume two other candidates will be interviewing in the other time slots. The times are 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30 pm. I chose the middle time. I guess I am trying to figure out how many people I am competing against. thanks

In my district, rif'ed teachers have first priority for any jobs they are qualified to teach. I would assume you are not competing against rif'ed teachers.

I agree with INteacher. That's my experience as well.

It stands for Reduction in Force.

It means teachers who get laid off, usually due to budget cuts or reduced enrollment. Those teachers get first dibs on any new or open positions.
