Is it okay to walk into the school after applying?

I applied to an open teaching position two weeks ago, and then I called friday to see if they received my application. They said they did but they had not called anyone for interviews yet. Now another week has gone by and nothing ): People are telling me I should walk in to inquire about the position and say that I want to put a face to a name and such. I am worried this might look sad and desperate though (which I am lol) and they may look down upon me for it.

Opinions? Should I call? It would be my second phone call to the school. What should I say? Am I being too impatient? Does it take a while for schools to call for interviews?

No. Don't go. Many schools have security plans in place that would prohibit you from entering. Even if you got in your 'face' is mostly only being seen by secretaries. A bit stalkerish.:2cents:

Agreed. If they want to talk to you, they will call.

    Good luck!

Gah, Okay, good thing I asked before going in and making a fool of myself. Would it hurt at all though?

It's not a good idea. Period.

Don't do it. I know in my state, we use a job board posting site exclusively. Many of the listings specifically state NOT to bother the school...to do so would get you noticed, and not in a good way.

You should never do that in my opinion. If they liked what they saw on paper, they will call you. If they didn't, they won't, and you going in there won't change that.
If anything, it would be off putting, and if they were going to call you, they might cross your name out because of that.
