We're getting new iPads to use in the classroom - yay! P wants me to come up with a specific project to use them in 3-5 Math during Summer School. I have an iPhone, but have never used an iPad and am having a little trouble coming up with ways to use it. She doesn't want it to just be practice apps at a center, but an actual project... Any creative techies out there?
You could do something with checking books... Maybe do a geometry project with pictures of different shapes...
Educreations is a free app where students or teachers can record the screens as they write. You can import pictures/shapes, etc. Maybe the students could create a series of presentations where they teach a math concept. Or they could use an art program to create illustrated word problems for each other, with a question and answer slide. They could use the camera function to record them explaining and demonstrating how they solved a real life problem. Maybe something where they have to measure, convert, and add or multiply. Ex., they have to buy border for the bulletin board. They get an inch ruler, the border is sold in feet or yards, and they have to figure out the total price (just a rough example). If you spring for iMovie, they can edit it and add captions.
