I did a writing sample a couple of weeks ago as part of the interview process and the topic was writing a newsletter article to parents explaining how you assess learning in your classroom. Hope that helps you out. Gives you something think about anyway!

    Thanks

Thanks for your advice. Do you think that they are also checking handwriting and grammar as well as content in the writing sample? I'm trying to practice cursive since I'm not so good at it myself.

You could write about your classroom management plan or you could write about how you are going to teach math and language arts. I'm sure they are going to check grammar and handwriting. I'm wondering if they are going to give you a topic once you are there at the interview. During my interviews I was given a specific topic that I had to write about, and those are the topics that I listed above. Good luck with your interview, I hope you get the position!
