I had an interview today and the Principal interviewed me for an hour. Then she called the Vice Prinicpal and interviewed me for a half hour. Does a long interview usually mean you are hired????????? It was not formal where I had to take a test. The Principal gave me her card and told me to email her if I had any questions and if I am still interested. Also, the Vice Principal checked that the Prinicipal gave me a card and told me that he hoped to hear from me soon. My Professor said that I should call back by the end of the week. Do you think that a long interview means that you got the job? What should I say when I call?
I don't think the length of the interview matters. I've heard of people with long interviews getting hired. My interview was short and I got hired on the spot. I would definitely call on Friday. Just say that you had an interview on Wednesday and you're calling because you are interested in the position. Someone else will probably come up with a better way of wording it! Good luck, hopefully you'll find out something soon.
In my experience, it is usually a good sign, but not a for sure sign, espepecially if you just spoke the whole interview and didn't have to do a demo lesson or any sort of activity. Hiring managers don't normally like to waste time, if they don't think you will work they will let you go without wasting much of your or their time.
Based on your comment that they "hope to hear from you soon" it sounds like the ball is in your court... I would call and reiterate your interest in the school and the position that you interviewed for.
I called the Prinicpal today and left a message. It's 4:30 pm and still hasn't called. I left her a message at about 12 noon. Perhaps she will call tomorrow.
I think you need to give her more time. You can't assume that you're the only one being interviewed, particularly in this part of the country.
Be very specific. Say, "Thank you for your time. I'm still very interested in X position and I want you to know that I'm ready to move forward with the interview process. What does your timeline look like for filling this position?" You're not asking her to make an immediate decision, but you do want her to know you're still interested. They asked you to do that, and if you don't, then they may assume you're not interested. Good luck!
