As a candidate: What PD opportunities are available? How do teams work together? What are some extra curricular opportunities in which I could become involved?
My Questions What is the school day like? How do the teachers collaborate? What kind of technology do you have? What is the next step in the interview process? Tell me more about your school. Is there a school wide discipline policy? Professional development opportunities.
I asked how does the school in general and the grade level team in particular handle collaboration and how is PD addressed school wide. Sometimes I would have follow up questions based off the resonses I got to my questions. Sheilah
Because I'm going into my first year, I always ask what mentoring/support looks like for first year teachers.
"Is this position opening due to growth, retirement, or general turnover?" It might give you a little insight into the stability of the school's staffing.
Ask about their inservice day. Is there some. kind of training for teachers that day? You can ask how teachers collaborate with each other? Is there a bullying prevention program at the school and how often is it used?
