Cross your fingers. I have an interview for an English teaching position on Monday at an extremely small school two hours north. It wouldn't be my first choice because of its location, but my first, second, and third choice have all filled up. I *really* just need a teaching job. Even if it only lasts a year.
Good luck allaragallagher! Hopefully you will know something quickly since it is a small school. Any idea on the number of interviews they are doing?
Even if it's in a less than ideal location, any teaching experience is extremely valuable! I moved for my current job, knowing I wouldn't want to stay in this area. The job search this season was much easier now that I have 2 years of experience. I only had to search briefly, but things went much more easily. Experience can help you get your dream job in the future!! Best of luck to you!!
I sort of did the same. Most of my ideal choice schools weren't even calling me in for interviews, so I took the less desirable school to at least gain experience. It will be an hour drive from me (because I am moving in August), but who knows, it could be a really fun school in the end. I hope your interview went well.
It went really well. The questions seemed tailor-made for me. The principal gave me a tour of the building before I left. Cross your fingers. I didn't ask about their hiring timetable so I don't know when I will hear anything.
Should I call on Friday if I haven't heard anything? I figure I didn't get it, since most people get offered a job much earlier than five days after an interview, but I'd like to know for sure.
Listen, you never know. I know that when I did my demo, they had a few other demos scheduled the week following mine. They had to have all of the candidates teach their demo before making a final decision. It's also the end of the school year, so things are crazy right now. Hiring a new teacher may not be the #1 priority when there are other things on the line that need to get done with a more pressing timeline.
