interview in front of BOARD...AGH! (how do I do thank yous?)

i have an interview in front of 7 people, maybe more, coming up. they are the board of ed. of the district! it's a super small district, w/ only one school but it's still nerve wracking! i went on an interview already w/ princ and supt...now this is the 2nd interview.

please pray for me everyone! i am sick of this job hunt!

any advice? has anyone ever had this experience? i really want to shine.

I actually like panel interviews....think about it like a conversation. Plus, board members typically do not have a super strong background in education.

I don't mind panel interviews either. I hope that things go your way. I am full of hope for YOU! Take a deep breath and claim this job as YOURS!

I have been on several panel interviews as an interviewer (not interviewee). These were law enforcement interviews rather than education, but I think the same general concepts apply.

The most important thing, in my opinion, is to make eye contact with everyone. It is easy to pick out a sympathetic face and answer directly to them. Don't do it. Address your answers to everyone. Draw them all into the conversation.

Good luck. I'm sure you will do fine.

so i had the interview. i think it went really well, but i feel like if they really wanted me, they would call me right away...i don't know.

anyway...how should i do thank yous? the supt and principal were there and i interviewed with them the first time, too (and sent thank yous). and i cannot for the life of me remember all the names of the other people who interviewed me. how should i handle this?

should i just do an email thank you to the supt and princ and say to extend my gratitude to the board members who served on the committee?

I would call the sec and ask for the names of those that were on the interviewing committee on the date of the interview.

And sometimes they want to call you right away but have to go through channels before they can call you to officially extend an offer! Good luck! What did you interview for?

The BOE members may be listed on the district's website; if you see the names maybe you'll remember who was there.

    If not I'd do this:
    Good luck!

    I don't.

I think they would continue to interveiw the other candiates, while all the time keeping your name at the top of their lists.

I would hate to be one of the candiates who was called and told that I didn't even have a chance, because they hired the person they interviewed on Tuesday.

    So hang in there!!

I (personally) would drop-off a THANK YOU in person... TODAY!! Prior to doing so, I would call and find out if you could get the names of the other panel members. :) Drop off all THANK YOUs today.. faxing and emailing are too impersonal for me especially considering the time. A hand-written, personalized note will make a much bigger impact. When I got hired, my principal said that my concern to show her appreciation for the interview was well-received. She came straight out and said that she very much appreciated my THANK YOU note and kept it in my personnel file. That note was "my edge".

    Wishin' you the best...
