Hi all, I have an interview tomorrow for a computer position for the HS. I am so used to being elementary - I have no idea what to expect! My computer technology certification is all grades - however, I have a childhood 1-6 certificate. What kinds of questions can I expect?
Tell us how you'll engage students... Talk about some projects that you might do... A biggie for a computer class...what do you do when the power goes out? Or, what do you do when half the computers won't turn on...just be prepared to tell them about some alternative activities that you can do (better hands on stuff...don't just say "throw in a movie".) Maybe say, I have a computer that's torn apart and we can look at the individual components, or you have some "offline" activities that you'll have ready, etc. Also talk about your methodology, lecture style, hands-on, circulating, etc? you need to think about how you'll engage kids, but be able to differentiate for kids who are good and kids who need extra help...just like any other teaching position. Good luck! Teaching computers can be fun.
