I accepted an interview offer for a position as a long-term substitute. I applied for a different position, but was offered an interview for this position instead. The posting for this position requires an endorsement that I do not have. Any thoughts about my chances for getting this position?

You probably have a decent chance at the sub position, given that they contacted you and that it's a sub job. If you applied for a full-time permanent job that you're not qualified for, I'd say that your chances are not as likely.

My LTS was in science (I am ELA/SS)....so they do look outside of the content area.

Good luck in whatever classroom you find. :)

Did they identify the job on the phone or did you go by the posting? Maybe there is more than 1 lts. I assume though they just have lax standards.

The principal said via email that they wanted to hire a long-term sub for special education (only a few weeks though). I found the job posting after our e-mail correspondence. I looked at the school's website and found that the school has several special education teachers.

As a former long term special ed sub I was asked about my certification...which i have...it had to do with getting a pay raise after consecutive work. A lot of schools around me are posting for long term sped jobs so they're probably just very desperate. In your case they might just be looking for someone to teach small groups and individually and not for case management. You might have to go to PPTs but won't have to facilitate them and do the paperwork.

Hmm. So maybe I should emphasize my experience with small groups/interventions in the interview...

Maybe...it's hard to say. Prepare for one about collaboration and familiarize yourself with IEPs and different behavior interventions.

I LTSubbed for a position that included teaching Biology. I am not certified in Bio nor do I know any bio. At the interview, I shared that I was hesitant about the lack of background on my behalf, but was more than willing to learn.

Bio is basically the history class of science. I'm sure you'd figure it out! Haha
