IMHO it does not have to be a pencil skirt or black. You are right about not being as casual in the interview as you may be at work. We dress to impress. I work in a SPED school, and I wore dress pants, a dressy kind of pull over top, and Dansko sandals. I wore the same type of thing in three other interviews and was offered the job in two of the other districts. Know that the people interviewing you may be somewhat dressed up, but not over the top - they still have a full day of work ahead of them. Nothing see through, no spaghetti straps, tasteful. I think you are on the right track. Knock them dead - best of luck!

I think the outfit you described with the navy pants, etc. sounds great! Good luck to you!

    How did the interview go?
I was going to add make sure you don't get overheated if the weather is hot where you are, but then I saw you had posted it Monday & the interview was Tuesday!
I don't like pants so I always wear a pencil skirt with a dressy short sleeve top.
    It's mid 90s here today :p

Sounds good. Without giving numbers here, what was your salary requirement answer? When I left private Catholic school for public I said I was flexible. When I switched public schools I played a little bit of hardball
