I interviewed for a great position in September for a vacancy that is being taught by a long term substitute. The principal seemed very interested in me. I don't currently have the certification (Tech APPS) needed. In my thank you email, he wrote me back and said that the director of the department mentioned that I would need to be willing to be certified to be considered for the position. I said of course and have the certification test tomorrow. I received an email last week from the principal (he's an AP) who stated he gave the list of his top three candidates to the principal, who has decided to wait to hire for midyear, but to be sure and let them know how I do on the test. So, it sounds promising. Yesterday, I got a phone call about an interview for a Social studies Inclusion Aide position at another district. I haven't even applied for it. He was looking through applications for another position earlier in the summer. I have an interview there after my test tomorrow. So, I'm not sure what I should do. Should I tell him why I am taking the certification test and about the other opportunity? Should I keep my mouth shut? It would be great to take this position, but I really need the teaching position for the financial benefit. There is also no guarantee that they will hire me for the teaching position. I would not mind working at either location. What should I do?
I would go to the interview. Then, if you are offered the position, I would be honest about the other position. No need to mention another position until you have an offer though.
