A to Z is starting a new site to help teachers connect and share ideas. The main thing will be teaching blogs, but based on feedback we may offer other features like groups. The main advantage of joining a teacher-only blog network is that all the blogs will be organized for teachers and tied together so cross-promotion will be natural. You'll be able to choose from a list of cool teaching-related domains for your blog address. Like: yourname.coolteachingdomain.com (not the actual domain... they are top secret for now :lol There will also be an option to point an existing domain to your new site AND support for moving a blog from blogspot, for instance. We'll need bloggers and readers, but for right now I'm looking for a handful of teachers who want to start a teaching blog. I need both experienced bloggers and those new to the idea. If you are interested, reply and I'll put you on the invite list. This is still early in development so I'm really looking for beta beta testers. I am hoping to have something ready for you to test out in the next week or so.
I'm interested, Amanda. I'm going to be beginning blogging with my students in September, but I'm new to it.
I am a first year teacher so I think it would be fun to blog about my experiences. I was already considering it so I might as well commit. How many entries/week are you looking for?
I am very interested. I just started a teaching blog and am having great fun with it. Yes, sign me up!
I would absolutely be interested. I've never blogged before, but have always been intrigued by the idea. Many did it within my masters program (finishing up an Ed Tech degree), and for some reason I never actually jumped on board.
I would DEFINITELY be interested! I am a first year teacher and I'd be so super excited to put time into this. I'm also pretty comfortable with blogging. I just set up a Wordpress account for my classes for this year. Please let me know if I can be of help.
It sounds interesting. I'm switching to departmentalization this year so I'd have lots of new challenges to write about.
I'm hoping to have a balance of simplicity and features. There is a simple interface for beginners or no-fluff users and an advanced interface for those that want to do more. It's easy to switch between the two options. I guess the beta-beta testers will help me figure out if the simple interface is clear enough.
I'm interested. I was going to make a blog from my own hosting site but I like the idea of being a part of a broader community.
I'm interested too. I'm a retired TV writer, and I've been looking for a way to do more writing (the book I'm supposed to be working on is going verrrrry slowly...)
I'm going to be a homeschool teacher this year. Are you mainly looking for actual teachers working in public or private schools?
I'm also interested. I've been playing around on wordpress with a personal blog to practice for a teaching one.
I've been thinking about starting a blog for a little while now. This looks like an interesting idea. Sign me up!
I'm interested. I have several non-teaching blogs and have been thinking of making a teaching-related blog.
I would be interested. I started a blog this past year and my kids loved it when I would upload pictures of them!
Hi Amanda I'm excited about the idea of blogging! I have never blogged before but going into my second year I would be excited to begin something new as well! Sign me up!
I actually just set up a blog to document my first year.I would be interested if you still need volunteers
Wow - we have a lot of interest! So far it looks like we have about 30 people. I'm excited to jump in and get started. Anyone else like to just jump in and figure it out as you go? If not, this may not be the beta-beta test for you. It is going to be a group effort! I think this will be a great extension to the professional community we already have going here.
I need to set up a few more things and then I can send out the invites. I'm thinking I'll probably just PM everyone the code and signup instructions when the time comes.
I'd love to do it! I dropped my personal blog awhile ago, but I've been thinking of starting a teaching blog for this year
I'd love to volunteer to blog my experiences as well! If you need anymore volunteers, please include me on the invite list when you're ready. Thanks!
Hooray! I'm excited. And to all of you who are new to blogging but want to try this out, I think you'll find Wordpress super easy and fun to use. It'll also be useful to get comfortable with it if you are interested in creating your own class's website.
