Hey Emily, good to have you here. Your enthusiasm is encouraging... but I think this thread belongs in the Introductions section. ;)

Doesn't matter where your first post is...welcome. What has inspired you? Are you taking classes? Why not volunteer in or see if you can observe in some PreK/early elementary classrooms? That way you could see first hand the challenges and joys that this job entails...

No, i'm not taking any classes. But next year I would like to take a class at my school called " Early Childhood Development."

Where would you suggest vounteering? like a daycare? A few days ago I worked in my church nursey, and I was able to teach a short 10 min class and I loved it! Hoewever, I've wanted to be a teacher scence i was a little girl.

Anyways thanks for the tip! You don't know how much I appreciate it. :D

If its available in your area, I'd suggest pursuing a job or volunteer experience as a counselor at a summer camp - *especially* if its the kind that has the campers stay overnight or for a full week. I worked at such a camp for three years while I was back home after high school, and I can *guarantee* that being in charge of five to fifteen youngsters for even one summer will give you INVALUABLE experience towards being a teacher.
