What's your favorite? Mine is Mr. Holland's Opus but there are other good ones out there like Dangerous Minds, Freedom Writers, Sister Act II the one with Chandler from Friends that I can't think of the name of right now... So what's your favorite teacher movie???
Stand and Deliver is really good...I saw a really good movie the other day on Lifetime...she wasn't a teacher but she worked in a school to help those students who had one or 2 parents in prison. She was such a positive influence on those kids. True story. It was really good too.
I was thinking Freedom Writers, then I was thinking about the Lifetime movie about the teacher who had brain cancer and survived only to have her daughter killed in the Columbine shootings near the end of the movie. I hate that I can't think of the name! The name of the movie is her name.
Who can give a summary of Up the down staircase? My mom had that kid when I was a kid. How is the language in it? How about an inspiring book about a teacher? Are the ones about Anne Sullivan for the elem. set? I new one for a freshman in HS or a HS student.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062425/ has all the information you can want about this movie. The book is much less tame.
I enjoyed Freedom Writers but it really bothered me that she moved with her students through high school AND COLLEGE!!! And that she totally gave up her own life for them. In my inspirational teacher movies, the teachers still have a life!!!
