I'm really into drinking infused water for the last 2-3 yrs & I wish I had started much earlier (but hey, better late than never)! I started w/ just lemon water for a long time, then wanted to try cucumber. The latest I've tried was just orange, then lime, cucumber, strawberry, & mint. They're all great! I've turned my BF, who HATED water, into loving to drink it & even starting to drink plain water more often too. There's some good websites about it. Here's a few: http://www.infusedwaters.com/ http://www.buzzfeed.com/melissaharrison/fruit-infused-waters#.uuBDZLXx6 http://www.loseweightbyeating.com/infused-water/ What's your favorite concoction(s)? There's numerous other combinations I still want to try. Also, if this picture doesn't make a person want to try it, I don't know what will! https://greenblender.com/smoothies/...1/Fruit-Infused-Waters-from-Green-Blender.jpg
Thank you! I've been making strawberry water for a few weeks now. I've been wanting to try blueberry. For the mint, how much do you add?
So far, in a regular-sized drinking glass, I've put in 7-10 mint leaves & tore them once or twice, so the juices really come out & you can taste it, but I should maybe try a whole sprig. It depends on how strong a flavor you want. I want to gradually drink less & less juice & I never really drank sodas. I want to try basil/peach, pineapple/mint, strawberry/kiwi, pomegranate/something else, jalapenos, etc. & ginger's always healthy. Anyone know any really good concoctions?
I throw whatever I have into a big pitcher of water in the fridge: - lemon, lime, grapefruit and orange - strawberry, mint - cucumber, lime - peach, mint - cranberry, strawberry, orange.
I have a bag of frozen mixed berries so sometimes I throw a few of those into my water. I tried the cucumber but didn't like it. I also am not a fan of the mint. Sometimes I put a teaspoon of chia seeds also.
Does one get health benefit other than hydration from infused water? I'm personally all about my Nutribullet.
I guess I'm odd. I prefer my water plain. I tried infused water back when I wasn't drinking enough water and just never got into it.
One gets incredible health benefit from proper hydration. The infused aspect serves to entice those who might otherwise prefer other, unhealthy choices over water. Nutribullet works fabulously for actual blends of whole fruits and other personal choice foods. Nutribullets aren't comparable to infused water topic because they are different animals.
Uh huh...I get the benefits of hydration.: Is there some significant nutritional benefit to infused water other than hydration? That's my question....I completely understand water is better than other beverage choices....
A quick google search shows countless articles and sites that discuss the health benefits of infused water. There are countless combinations and benefits to them. That said, I haven't been adventurous in my trials. I've stuck to lemon or just plain ice water. I grew up on well water, and I'm still a little sensitive to chemical tasting water. That's where the lemon comes in.
I think one of the main health benefits is the fact that it gets SOME people to drink more water. If you like water plain that's good but if you can add something (with not a lot of calories or sugar) then it really makes it a tasty alternative to soda or whatnot.
I completely agree with this. It does make you drink water more and I know for me, along with crystal lite its all I drink now!!! Good topic Ms. I:thumb:
I had water with my frozen berries last night. I put them in the water and let the glass sit in the fridge for a little while and the water really tastes so good. I also have been using a straw since I tend to drink it more quickly than if I have to sip it. I think I will make some more when I get home today.
The only thing that keeps me from doing this more often is that I want to eat the fruit instead of putting it in my water. One solution: we have been buying whole pineapples lately, and the core is the perfect size to fit in my infuser bottle. Yummy pineapple water and still getting to eat the whole pineapple--perfect!!
OH, that's a good idea!! Do you have one of those pineapple cutter/corer thingies? I want to get one since I always have a hard time cutting it.
Yes, it was the one kitchen gadget my DH insisted on putting on our wedding registry, and he was so excited when it was one of the first gifts we got! He is the one who uses it, but it seems really easy to use. And, with me using the core for water, it doesn't seem to have that much waste.
There are none, no. Just hydration and making the taste appeal more to people who are, for whatever reason, repelled by water. If you do a Google search you get some results about detoxing, but that's all malarkey.
Or just to introduce some variety--I'm drinking SO MUCH WATER these days (very pregnant + very hot and humid), that it's nice to mix things up and have some sort of flavor...
