I'm just wondering what kinds of things you send home regarding the class on the first day of school. Here is what I send home, let me know if you have something to add or if I should take something off.
    1. Letter welcoming parents
    2. Sign up for help in the classroom
    3. Handbook
    4. Rules (although this year we are going to make rules as a class I think)
    5. Anything they will need for school
    6. Emergency Form to fill out all their info

    Anything else I'm forgetting???

Don't forget a calendar of specials. I know my parents appreciated knowing when gym or art was.

Lunch program information which includes costs & a menu.
Your plan for papers to go to & from home & school. I use folders that go home each day to be returned each day.
Homework program procedures when you begin that, if you do homework.

I need your post to get me motivated to get my info together...thanks! Good luck!

We are sending home our weekly schedule, a copy of the grading rubric we use for math, an introductory letter, and a couple other things.

We actually copied most of them before the SY was over last year, and they are sitting in my closet right now at school. I know there are a couple other things we are sending home in our packet, but exactly what they are is escaping me right now.

I save some of that stuff for back to school night: the rules (class code of conduct) and volunteer sign up. (that way I can answer questions and make a plea for volunteers/how they can help...) Emergency forms and other forms are sent by the school during the summer. I send a welcome letter in the summer (sent it out about a week and a half ago) and we don't have a 'handbook'...:)
