I filed my income taxes this morning using the online TurboTax Freedom Filer so all I paid was $9.95 to file my state taxes. :D

I'm getting $468 back from Uncle Sam and $28 back from IL for a grand total of $496. It's $93 MORE than last year! I'm having my refunds directed deposited into my checking account. Should take 7 to 14 days to see them deposited.

What about the rest of you? Did you file yet? If so, how much are you getting back and from who?

Filed 2 weeks ago using Turbo Tax, money was direct deposited last Friday and DH had it spent before I got home from school!
He paid off several medical bills and Zales.

I filed last Friday using the free edition of TurboTax. We're getting more than $2500 back (thank you DD). Most of that will be catching up on bills.

Literally JUST filed mine! $2593 back from federal and $187 back from state (which I may see sometime between May-July, thank you lovely CA). I used TurboTax and will have the $$ direct deposited within 16 days!!! Now, to force myself to save it for my upcoming wedding!!! :)

I'm getting $6058, which should be direct deposited into my account shortly. The majority of my refund (btw, the return is the paper that gets filed, everybody files a return, only some get a refund), is from the EIC. Thanks kids...glad that at least this one time you're actually putting money INTO my checking account instead of sucking it all out. :D

I agree, what refund? We haven't gotten anything back for years. We try to balance during the year. Usually we have to pay $100 to one and receive same from other.

I am getting $1,143, says the tax calculator. I haven't actually done them yet. Good for those of you who aren't getting anything back - I always try to get my W-4 to the point that I will get nothing back, but it's impossible.

I tried online but I only got as far as my state taxes. I'm a new homeowner and I can't understand the language on those taxes for the life of me!

As far as I got though I'll be receiving around 8,500 back.

(I'm taking that new homeowner 7,500 loan)

I try to work my withholding so that I don't get any of that back. My huge "refund" is mostly EIC. I think it would have been around $100 or so before I applied the EIC, and since I have three qualifying kids.....

I've already received just at $2,500 back this year, which is great because we had to pay in about $1,500 last year!

Holy Smokes! How come people are getting these huge amounts back? Do you have them hold out more during the year?

We filed on Sunday. We received our state back yesterday already and Federal is scheduled to be received by next Thursday (according to their "dump schedule"). We are getting back quite a bit as we just bought a house in April. Most of that money is already "spoken for" as we will be landscaping this summer. :) I do have them take out an additional $50 per paycheck and on my W-2s have it as married but at a higher single rate. (Not sure what the exact verbage is for that but you get the picture.)

All but about 150 of mine is the earned income tax credit. I actually pay a negative amount in taxes. By the time I apply that credit, I get everything back that I put in, plus more. I actually should do the paperwork for the advance EIC...where they estimate the amount of the credit you would recieve and spread it out in your paychecks throughout the year.

We just had our refund direct deposited today: $6,157. We have the max withheld but we pay verrrrrry little taxes. We own our home with a huge mortgage, have two kids, the kids are in daycare, and we have taken loans for my education.

Half our refund will go to property taxes in April.

Getting like $800 from government, $8.00 from state, yes just eight dollars! But i have no mortrage or rent, and i'm single. so I figured I would get taxed a lot. Need to get married soon!

We owe. Not sure how much yet but I am guessing in the area of $1000. Since I subbed January-June, there weren't a lot of taxes taken out of my checks and then my 2 part-time jobs this summer only had about $50 taken out. My fault, I should have had more taken out.
