My 5th graders have been crazy lately. I'm going to be having an incentive party that the students must earn by earning a certain amount of Class Dojo points. We're departmentalized so each homeroom will attend the party for about 90min. I'm trying to come up with ideas that will be easy-enough and cost effective. Is there a way where you can work with other 5th grade teachers and combine homerooms for a time period for the party? This could mean more incentive to work cause students can be with their friends from other classes. I do like the idea of letting the class decide and you modify.
If the gym is free, make it a gym party. Or, if the weather's nice, a picnic (kids bring their own food and you supply a treat) extra-long lunch outside on the playground. Let the whole fifth grade do it together as others suggested.
