I am home sick today and have NBC on while I lie in bed feeling sorry for myself.

I have to give credit to the announcers. A lot of times there just isn't much to say and they are somehow coming up with something.

They spent a good five minutes guessing what the present was that Michelle gave Laura:)

    Quite a historic day!

I pretty much have a "babysitting" sub job today. So, I'm watching on the computer.

Yes, this is a day to remember!

I am not sure I am loving Michelle Obama's outfit. But I really like her so it is hard not to like it.

Yes, a horribly materialistic comment but I am watching this all day so I can't get emotional now or else it would be a long day

I don't care for the COLOR of Michelle Obama's outfit at all. It's just not an attractive (or patriotic!) color.

I'm surprised that more of the men aren't wearing hats! A man in a great hat is very stylish! Plus, it would help for warmth.

(No speeches yet - so nothing "profound" to say! LOL)

I just turned the coverage on here. I have the day off so I am going to watch the swearing in at least. I haven't seen Michelle Obama's outfit. What color is it? I guess I will see it soon enough, I am watching it on CNBC and they said that after this break, the arrival of Bush and his wife. I am amazed when I see the number of people that are there, I am glad that I don't live in the area....what a mess traffic would be. haha

I have to disagree with those that don't like her dress and jacket. I think the yellow is pretty on her, and it goes along with the happy day.

I agree though Ithink shewore it due to the cold weather and how much she'd have to be outside today. I hope her inagural is a "knock out". Can't wait to see Sasha and Malia. I wonder what designer got that honor.

Anyhow, been watching since about 8 AM. Been back and forth between MSNBC and CCN. Will prolly have it on CNN for the actual swearing in ceremony.

As I watch this, I'm silently chanting, "Good Riddance Bushman!" LOL!

What a momentous occasion. I have the day off, but I have a couple of errands to do in the morning. I really wish I was there! I've been recording it on VHS & watching. I'd really like to purchase a DVD of this occasion.

I really like Michelle Obama's dress/coat. Not many people could pull off that color. I'm watching MSNBC and they had a close up on her just a minute ago.

I really hope people aren't lame and boo Bush... suck it up for another 30 minutes...

Michelle's outfit is ok. I think she looks nice in it. Sasha and Malia look beautiful and are in red and blue so they are dressed patriotically. I did not know I would feel so emotional about this. Bush just walked out and I don't know if I am just so happy that he is out or if I am just really hopeful about what Obama will be able to do for our country.

We have a snow day today. I am also not quiet sure of Michelle's outfit, but she is such a beautiful woman that she can pull off anything! It is definitely a unique color, but I absolutely love the patterns and such. I am loving having my day to watch all of the coverage. This is such a wonderful day in American history! I feel so patriotic today!

Obama looks so calm. MSNBC is trying to figure out what he thinks about to stay so calm all the time :)

Woo-hoo! Our 44th President! It's kind of cute that he messed up in the oath a little. He is just as human as the rest of us!

I think he was nervous too. Who wouldn't be? I loved his speech. I feel very good right now and I think most people who heard his speech feel the same. Today is a great day. :D

Dave, that was a line that I loved, too.

I watched it (streaming video) on a screen in my classroom with 30 students in 3rd through 5th grades. It was wonderful. Due to the color of Michelle Obama's dress and coat, she was easily identifiable at all times. I thought the whole thing was inspirational and touching. I got teary-eyed when the invocation was said right at the beginning.

I loved Michelle's outfit. And Aretha's hat. AND some of the men DID put on hats after they walked in - did you see George Bush I's hat? He had a furry holden caufield thing going on, but he wasn't wearing it when he walked in. I loved that he and Barbara had on matching scarves. (Ok, i feel really materialistic, too.)

I liked the poem. I already linked it with "I hear America Singing..." by Walt Whitman, which I already link with "I, Too" by Langston Hughes, so I will probably do a lesson with those three poems.

From what I understand, the mess up in the oath was actually because the Judge read it to him wrong. And it probably slipped him up a little because he had probably been practicing it a million times in the bathroom mirror. I know I would have.

I loved the benediction, but I thought the invocation was horrible. I thought it was very exclusive and cliche.

The Invocation & The Benediction were both fantastic. I thought The Invocation & The Benediction were both inclusive & well presented.
As for Michelle's outfit what did expect from a First lady it is her day too.
As for Aretha's hat it was out of place
