In the dating world, how old is too old and how young is too young?

Curious about this. State your age and how young and old you'd consider.

I'm 32 (just.) I'd date between 26 and 40.

 

I'm 29. I think I would let my daughter start dating at 16-17, and I don't think you're ever too old to date!

 

I'm 25. I would date 24-28

 

I'm 29. It totally depends on the person, but If I had to give a range, I would say 25-45.

 

Well, I'm married so I'm not really in the dating market. If I were dating, I'd probably be okay with dating people who were 26-35 or so. I'm 30.

My first boyfriend was 21. I was 15. Looking back, I think that's really weird. At the time it felt like no big deal to me.

Most of the guys I've dated have been 1-2 years older than me.

 

I'm 29. I would date 24-35. Maybe up to 40 if we had lots in common. Of course, I'm married, so this is entirely theoretical.

 

Married, but at 28 I'd easily date a person 25 to 33 although I'd consider ages beyond that range.

 

lol. I had to really think about this because I haven't been on the market for awhile. I am 30 and I think I would date to 28 through 35. That's just what I would say if I was looking on a dating site, for example. But if I met someone outside of that range, especially older, I wouldn't have a problem with it. if I liked them, I wouldn't care. (Unless they were under 21, that's just a no. But I don't really see that happening).

I have dated someone 11 years older than me but I was in my 20s. I couldn't really see dating someone in their 40's now.

I'm married (and married relatively young, so that will skew things for me).

I will say that I would probably not be willing to date anyone much younger than I (maybe a year younger at most). I would date older if I were still single, though--I'd go as far as 10 years, possibly more. My husband is 3 years my senior.

 

I'm 26, nearly 27 and I'd date anyone between 24 - 35 I suppose. I haven't really given it much thought... at this point if I find a great guy, it would take more than age to discourage me!

i won't date anyone past 40 and no one younger than 26.

 

I'm married, but I would definitely go older rather than younger. I'm 32, I don't think I could date anyone much younger than 30. And up to 45 or so. I just feel like my priorities are so much different at 32 than they were at even 28-I'd want my mate to match.

BTW-my spouse is almost 36.

 

I always thought I'd date someone my age or older, but I ended up marrying someone younger. He's only one year younger, but he's three years behind me in school.

My dad was 9 years older than my mom, and most of my friends married guys at least 5 years older. My mom's boyfriend is a little over 6 years younger than she is, and most people think that she is his age . . . which would make her not old enough to have a child my age.

 

I'm 33, and I'd date between 30-38. I actually thought I was 32 and had to go back and do the math!:lol:

 

I'm 30 and my BF is 27. I had never dated younger, but now I think age is relative and completely depends on the maturity of the person.

 

I prefer older up to 10yrs, but I would probably go 1-2 years younger depending on the guy.

My wife was 21 and I was 31 when we met.

I was the envy of all my friends. 18 years later, I think I still am.

 

I'm in my mid-30s. Depending on how the other person is of course, I'd date as young as 34 & as old as 46/47. I don't know about 50. It sounds too old for me even though I'm a mature person.

 

I'm 25 and I would go anywhere as young as 22 and as old as late-30s, but usually try to date within a couple of years of my age.

I'm 30, so probably anywhere from 28-40, but I am married (he just turned 31), so this is if I were not married...

 

I am going to speak for my dad - he keeps marrying younger and younger. His first wife (my mom) was 1 year younger, his second wife was about 15 years younger (hated her), his third and current wife is younger than me by a year so about 31 years his junior. He is 84 and they have been married about 17 years, I think. He said it keeps him young and active but sometimes she doesn't get what he is talking about - fewer common references both due to the generation gap and she is Chinese so doesn't have the same cultural references. I don't know what she sees in him but she is super nice and, as my sister says, she will be the one to look after him instead of us. I guess good for us????

As for myself, probably plus or minus 5, but I haven't dated since I was 16 - still married to my high school sweetheart and I doubt I would ever date again even if I was widowed. Sometimes when you get nearer to retirement the age difference rears its head because one person is ready to retire when the other one isn't. Some of my friends have been experiencing this.

 

When I was still in the dating world, I tended to date older men, with the biggest age difference being 16 years (on and off for years until it ended when I was 31 and he was 47). I occasionally dated younger, with the biggest age difference in that direction being 8 years (that didn't last long). Rockhubby and I married when I was 34 and he had just turned 36 (I'm now 39 and he's 40). It seems to be doing well. You love who you love and there's rarely an explanation of why.

I like older men but I would date somebody who's 25-29. I'm 29. I go by my own rule of thumb. If they are at an age in which my parents could have given birth to children at the same age, then I would date them. If they are near the same age as my parents, I won't date them. I do make case-by-case decisions. If that make sense.The rule of thumb is not an end all to dating...there are exceptions

**Side Note: My parents didn't really approve of the 42-year-old!

 

36 almost 37

Probably not much younger than 30 depending on life priorities. I guess mid to early 20s sounds exciting but I can't not see myself falling into a mentor type mind set. Then not much older than 45 depending on how we interacted. I definitely wouldn't want a second mother.

 

I am almost 60 and I would date from 18 to "still breathing"

No really from 45 to 65 (the 65 year old would have to have money and 45 year old would have to have a good job)

 

I would be comfortable with a range of 2 years below or 5 years over

Since I am married.... I dated younger men by about 4 years and wasn't impressed and ended up marrying a man 15 years older than me and it truly has worked out wonderfully. We have been married 28 years. So far, so good.

 

That sounds about right to me. I'm 25, so that would be 23-30.

I am 26, but I am willing to date anyone from 22-32, I think. It just depends on their maturity. I've met 22 year olds who are still completely irresponsible, but I've also met 22 year olds who own a house, have kids, etc.

It just depends.

I'll be thrilled enough when I find a guy ready to settle down! They seem to be severely lacking.
