Brand new teacher here who is having some difficulty determining how to unit plan for my high school bio and chem students, most of whom have multiple challenges with ELA and mathematics. I'm using standardized test data from the previous year to help guide me, but I want to make sure that my units are engaging and rigorous for them. Many thanks!

I feel the same way at times, get some books to do different activities to prevent working out of the book every day. Candy always helps to keep them entertained and engaged, just make sure they don't eat the candy before the end of the lesson. Get them working in groups on a project with a guideline in which they need to be completed by.
Hang in there I know I am trying! Every class will not be the most riveting of classes, but sometimes they need to sit and takes notes for half of the class.
