This past year my partner teacher and I really worked to create an interdisciplinary unit around immigration. She teaches SS and I teach LA. She taught much of American history through the eyes of immigration, while I used many novels with this theme to teach lit circles, reading strategies, etc. Novels I used were:
    Letters from Rifka
    Dragonwings
    So far from Home
    Nory Ryan's Song
    Esperanza Rising
    Seedfolks
    Journal of Jasper Jonathan Pierce
    Rosa Takes A Chance
    The Dragon's Child

Clearly I've got quite the selection of lit :), but we could use more ideas for interesting immigration experiences, projects, ideas.

    Has anybody taught this?
