I'm going to read, "The American Wei" by Marion Hess Pomeranc and I wanted to know if there were other similar stories about immigration that I could also read to my Kindergarten students? Someone suggested on the OCR website to have them watch "An American Tale," but I would also like to enrich their learning of "immigration" by reading other books to them.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but could they ask their parents and grandparents how THEIR families came to be Americans?

Also, if you have computer access in class, take a look at the Ellis Island site:

(Note: I haven't screened this; I have no idea whether or not the stories are appropriate for 5 year olds. And I know it's the wrong coast...sorry :) )
