I'm willing to move almost anywhere in the US but I'm wondering what states having openings for El Ed? I've seen many posts for Utah and a few for AZ and NV.
Nevada should definitely be crossed off for jobs. There are few or no jobs in elem ed. In northern Nevada at least, current employees always are picked before anybody is on the outside, not to mention there is quite a bit of nepotism. I am astounded anybody still believes there are teaching jobs of almost any kind in Nevada. I know of what I speak because I lived there for 26 years.
I'm a teacher in southern Nevada. I have a fairly good handle on what is and is not available here. There may not be the thousands of jobs there once were, but there are and will be jobs. It's an enormous district. Nepotism isn't an issue here, at least not that I've seen. Easily 90% of the teaching staff at my school comes from out of state. Nearly all of them had zero connections here before moving here.
My state has zilch but I'd strongly encourage you to do extensive research before you start considering relocation. Don't just look at where the jobs are now but also consider why there are jobs (is the population growing immensely or is there a high turnover rate?) as well as whether the area is a good fit for you personally. Good luck!
Oklahoma won't start hiring till April. There are definitely not teacher shortages, but I think the situation is better than many other parts of the country. Cost of living is low, too.
