I could just scream. I've been enrolled in my online teacher education program since last March. Being an online student I have an academic counselor and a teacher education specialist I am assigned. They are supposed to answer any questions I have throughout the program. Every time I try to contact them I find that these people are no longer there. Not that I would know since they fail to email or contact me about these changes. Their emails just stop working. I've had four, count them four, academic counselors since I started. This last one keeps enrolling me in classes I've already taken. I haven't been to class in two months because I have to withdraw from the one and then wait for an open position in the class I need. Which they have managed to screw up by enrolling me in yet another class I've already taken. Now I have a question about the tests I need to take and bam yet another email address that is no longer any good. How is a person supposed to function like this? Now I don't even know if they received all my paperwork since I never received an email verification. Sorry, I realize this is mostly a complaint but it helps to type it out and see it. Aarrghh, I'm just so mad!!

It sounds to me like a scam.

Contact the state licensing authority and the BBB.
email a copy of your letter to the school.

I should mention that this is a fairly well-known school. The base education office is very familiar with them and hasn't had any problems. When I spoke to the principle where I will student teach she mentioned that most of the student teachers that she coordinates are doing their program. But they sure seem to have a very high employee turnover and a change of contact information wouldn't go amiss.

I'm still frustrated but my temper has cooled down.

Wow that sounds extremely sketchy. I would definitely be contacting one of the heads @ the school!

I ended up calling them which is a hassle since there is such a big discrepancy in the time zones. As I feared, another Education Specialist bit the dust. But I was able to talk to someone and get the answers I needed. There has been confusion about my paperwork which I feared but luckily I have the back ups. I did talk to the enrollment counselor from your university after talking with you CaitM. The MA program works a bit differently from the BA. I'm still undecided. I'll be contacting the licensure department in NC before I make any final decisions about changing programs. Thanks for your advice and help. I really do appreciate it.

I am put in mind of a Peanuts comic strip: you see Charlie Brown's sister Sally writing an essay. She writes the title, "Our School," and then she thinks for a bit, and then she begins:

"Going to our school is an education in itself, which is not to be confused with actually getting an education."

She stops. She thinks. She sighs. She crumples up the piece of notebook paper and tosses it over her shoulder, murmuring, "I don't need that kind of trouble."

It's the University of Phoenix. I don't think they offer BA degrees though, only the MA.
