My first loaf of bread, banana bread, is in the over. We went to a farmer's market and I got 3 overly ripe bananas for 24 cents...figured why not?

I am so much more of a cook than a baker. I am not one to follow recipes. I add double of garlic to everything I cook, search my fridge for add-ins and to save perishables, and I modify as necessary. Baking is so much more of a science!

Do you prefer baking or cooking?

Lol, I love them both actually. My husband thinks that my cooking isn't good (but he was a self-proclaimed bachelor who lived by himself for 6 years and only cooked for himself). I really like to bake but I love cooking too. I actually just tried to make my very first pecan pie. Yummy :) It's baking at the moment and I so hope it turns out!

I think I am better at cooking. When I bake from a recipe (cakes, cookies, or whatever) I have to try it more than 3 or 4 times to get it right.

I love baking but I often don't have the ingredients I need. I think I might get some baking supplies this weekend and try something low fat, low carb...does anything like that exist? LOL

There is a website where you can type in your ingredients and it will give you a recipe. I have only ever used it for cooking though!

My bread TASTES wonderful. However, it stuck to the bottom of the pan and I started shaking it to get the bread out...it's now in 2 pieces....

I totally prefer cooking. I don't measure either and (not to toot my own horn or anything) am very creative when it comes to sauces or putting things together that taste good.

Baking is a little too precise for me.

I love to bake! I would bake all the time, except for the fact that I love to eat what I bake.

I did that with the Thanksgiving turkey one year. No one told me to loosen it from the bottom of the pan before you try to lift it up. The front part came up and flipped across the kitchen when I put a little extra force on it because the back end was stuck.

I'm glad your bread tasted good. Baking is fun.

I LOVE baking - I consider it a hobby (one that makes me fat). I am the baker and BF is the cook.

I just made a couple loaves of banana bread the other day, too. I love the good old Betty Crocker recipe. And when you are ready for "real" bread, the Gold Medal recipe is awesome!

I LOVE banana bread. My mom would make it with icing and the bread part would be a little gooey from the icing and bananas. Mmmmmm....now I want some.
I'm not much of a baker or a cook. I live by myself and know that if I cook it, I'm going to be the only one eating it. There are a few things I make well-English toffee, peach cobbler and chicken enchiladas.

    Speaking of bread-
Does anyone have a recipe for Italian bread? You know the kind-white bread with sesame seeds on top? It is a little smaller than the white bread I bake. My DH says that he can eat a whole loaf every day if he could! I want to make it for him as a surprise. I appreciate any help!!!!

That sounds really good. I use a couple different recipes for banana bread but my gram gave me one her mom used, so I stick to that one now!!! I also found a recipe online for banana struesal muffins. YUMMY!!

Of course hubby likes to throw ripe bananas in our Pina Coladas!!!

My mom used to bake all our bread when we were little and we much preferred Grandma's house where she had store-bought Stroehman bread. Ah, misguided youth.

My late huband said that on Sundays, they had bought bread and they couldn't wait to have it. But later, he always loved getting a loaf from his mom. He even baked bread a few times.

He had an interesting childhood. He was only six years older than me, but had more in common with my mom's childhood than my own. They had an outhouse until he was in junior high, no television until he was ten or so, etc.
