I had the website all working and looking good. Now all of a sudden, it's not working.

I should be able to view it at http://www.mdusd.k12.ca.us/meadowhomes but for some reason it is not there anymore.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix it. The home page is now http://www.mdusd.k12.ca.us/meadowhomes/index.html and I want it back to the way it was.

I'm using Dreamweaver if that makes a difference.

    Please help!!!

ETA: When I read it in the thread list, it looked like I meant this website when I really meant my school website!

It looks like they've changed the URL to

    http://www.mdusd.k12.ca.us/meadowhomes/Index/

there's nothing you can do about that unless you're the webmaster of the website. You'll just have to update your bookmark to the new link.

    :)

Jenny G.: Most hosting companies have names that they REQUIRE their customers to use for their "first" pages. Your hosting company obviously wants you to name it "index." Others might want it called "home," "main," or even "one."

But if you go to the district website, click on our school, then click on our website, it goes to www.blahblah.com without the index. It wasn't until I published last night that it somehow got changed.

I did something, I have no idea what I did, and I can't fix it.

I figured out what you did. You have placed all of your files in their own directories. That's not really necessary, but it will work for most of the pages. However, you do not need the 'Index' directory. Inside that directory is a file named index.html. That file should be uploaded to your root directory instead. Take your index.html file and upload it to http://www.mdusd.k12.ca.us/meadowhomes. Then you will be able to visit the site again using that link. When you use that link, it's really pointing to http://www.mdusd.k12.ca.us/meadowhomes/index.html. Right now there is no index.html at that location which is why you have a problem.

Amanda, YOU ROCK!! I remember you helped me before, but I couldn't remember your name to PM you directly.

    I'll fix it tonight.

    Thanks again!

After you put the index file in the right place, be sure to check your menu links to be sure they are pointing to the right place.
