Most of our grade 7 and 8 students leave tomorrow morning for a 3-day, 2-night overnight trip. I'm not going with them :(. As nice as the peace and quiet in the hall outside of my room will be, I'm going to miss them. (So much so that one of the other teachers who isn't going on the trip and I are going to drive up after school tomorrow--they're only an hour and a half away--and surprise them by joining them for dinner!).

You all will have so much fun! I'm glad to know there are others who share my sentimental feelings about students.

I'm a big sap where my "kids" are concerned--even more so at this time of year when I know that I'll only have them for another couple of weeks.

Just got back from our visit. I felt like a rock star when the kids saw me--I got hugs from most of my grade 7 girls and almost got one from one of my grade 8 boys (he quickly recovered and gave me a double high-five instead). We had dinner with them and stayed for a bit of their evening program. Left with calls of, "Are you coming back tomorrow night?" "Are you coming on Friday?" "Why can't you stay?" "Be sure to watch the Portugal game for me tomorrow" ringing in my ears. The halls were eerily silent without them at school today. (But I'm glad that I don't have to get them settled and quiet into bed tonight!).
