If you've ever been non-renewed......

Would you even consider applying for a job where you were non-renewed? I ask because the job board posted a position for which I would be qualified. It's in the same district where I worked 3 years and I was let go. It's not at the same school where I was canned but a high school position. I'm not going to apply for it but I wonder who on this board would..... ;)

Many districts have rules that say people who have been non-renewed can't work in the district again. You're non-renewed at the district level, not just at the school level. If for whatever reason the principal felt you were a good fit for the district but not for that specific school, a transfer would have been offered instead. Even if it were allowed, no way would I consider applying for a district that non-renewed me.

That's too bad especially since I got let go when the new P cleaned house. So when admin cleans house, that means you're done in the district..... The P is one powerful person! ;)

Uh, not on your life! I would happily spend the rest of my working life as a Wal-Mart greeter if that saved me from stepping foot into my former district.

Of the 2 systems that have given me the non-renewal, I wouldn't even consider the more recent one because of the super-long drive and just not being a good fit. The first non-renewal was a tenure or out situation. I don't believe I was a bad fit. Just bad timing.

To go further with my answer, my state has almost 700 school districts. Why would I need to dick around with a district that didn't like me?

I don’t think that a non-renewed person would be eligible to reapply in my district. If they tried, I’m sure their application would get deleted.

I’d be embarrassed to apply to the same company/district/establishment that let me go! That’s just me, though.

OP, you can ask the question over and over until someone gives you the answer you want, OR, you can accept the reasonable answer of everyone else. Do as you like.

    Are you expecting a 3rd non-renewal?

I definitely won't be applying. Just had a brief moment of insanity. ;)

You mean from the current place where I'm working? I certainly hope not. Last week, the P asked if I planned on coming back next year. I take that as a good sign. It beats the "I strongly encourage you to look for another position..." spiel around this time a year ago!

It's occurred to me, as I in general liked that district, and I suppose the worst thing that could happen is I don't get an interview, but I highly doubt it would be the place I would run to first were I job-hunting.
