Rent the movie "Chalk." It's a documentary on teaching. I watched it this morning on tv and couldn't stop laughing. Although I forewarn you that I went in to it expecting to laugh since my colleagues told me some of the things this teacher does in it, so it's not a "let's see a teacher overcome the battles of an inner city school and succeed" movie. It's a "is that teacher for real right now?" Although there's a first year teacher in there that I can relate to, as I had so many behavioral problems my first year, too.

I had high expectations for the movie, found it to be a let down.

My thoughts exactly. I WANTED to like it, but I didn't.

Never saw it, but it's not a documentary. I heard of it before, it's actors. Not real teachers.

Sorry, i should have clarified that it was a mock documentary. I just found it so funny, really. I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous they all were.

I own this movie---I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but it has it's truths, like the copier ALWAYS being broken!
