What would you do? I think I would open a doggie daycare, and volunteer at an animal shelter. If that didn't work maybe a bakery/ coffee shop.
I'd move to the middle of nowhere, raise some chickens and goats, grow some food, and be generally self-reliant.
The only other career I was ever slightly interested in was nursing. I'd like to work in a children's wing- but I think it would get depressing. I'm an extreme night owl and am reallly "at my best" late at night while I'm extremely tired in the mornings, so I'd love that I could choose to work nights and sleep in the mornings as well.
Jamie...... .....I would go back to doing geophysical consulting...... or be a horse wrangler in Wyoming...... then again I would love to be a fly fishing guide........... (and then there's always being a professional poker player in Vegas)
First choice: Stay at home mom. Second: probably a Disney Certified Travel Agent. Third: whatever it took to pay the bills.
No idea... I like an earlier answer of book store owner. That'd be really cool. I love books! I've always thought forensic science is cool, but I don't know if I could do it. I trained in computerized accounting in vocational school, so I suppose the CPA route could work.
Dream: Egyptologist Also: animal rescue; gentle farm for rescued livestock; owner of a little bookstore much like The Shop Around the Corner on "You've Got Mail"; a quirky little place on the square that offers local art, organic products, and baked goods. Lots more random ideas in this head of mine. I am sometimes envious of those who seem to dabble in this and that instead of committing to one stable career. They're able to live a few lifetimes during just their one, you know? Of course, I also crave routine and consistency, so...
I have no idea. I can't imagine not teaching! The only other thing I'd want to do--I think--would be work as a counselor, a social worker, or a facilitator of some kind of mentorship program with college students or young teens.
I'd work in medical records in a hospital. When I taught on the child unit at a mental hospital, I would have to go to the records to sign papers and what not. I wouldn't mind being hid away and not have to deal with the public at times... LOL
I've always been interested in photography, so I wouldn't mind doing something involving that if I couldn't teach. If money weren't an object, I would move to a beach town and open up a small shop near the water. I always love visiting those shops when I go on vacation and the owners seem so happy, relaxed and stress-free!!
I did pretty well in finance back-office work for several years, particularly with troubleshooting and correspondence. It required the ability to read and analyze customer complaints and then research solutions.
Education Coordinator at a historical society. I volunteer at one now and work closely with the woman who is the education coordinator. She's told me before she wishes she could take me on to share her job, but there just isn't any money.
I've always wanted to be able to wear nice clothing, carry a briefcase and work downtown. I have no clue what I would do but I would look GOOD:lol: In all honestly I would love to be wealthy so that I could volunteer for non-profit agencies -- food banks, schools, NICU in hospitals, battered women's shelters, etc...
I worked in medical records 30 years ago. It was pretty interesting. I would still be a writer in some way. I would also love to study linguistics, or be an event planner.
Well, this is something that I've been thinking about for a while. Hubby and I moved to a town where obtaining a teaching job is basically impossible. I have a friend who I worked with at my old school who used to live in this town and had to move away because she just couldn't find a teaching job. SOoooooo, I've been thinking a lot about my options: 1) Food Industry/cook/chef- I love to cook and am getting better at it day by day (my dad was a chef and I guess his natural cooking talent was passed onto me and has finally been awoken ). In fact, I made THE best enchiladas for dinner tonight. So, I would love to get a job in the food industry. 2) Baker- I've recently discovered that I'm a great baker. I've never baked before until recently and every single thing that I made came out really great. And my guinea pigs don't lie. 3) Fitness Trainer- this isn't a new thought, but I hadn't seriously thought about this until recently. I'm attending yoga/pole dancing classes. My instructor USED to teach first grade until they laid off a TON of teachers. She went on to open up this fitness studio. I love to work out and think that that love combined with my former teaching experience would be perfect. My friend thinks I would be a fabulous fitness instructor.
I love maps. The coolest thing that I know about maps is that on each and every map the cartographer puts in a small error, usually something that is not really there. For example, in a residential area there might be a street included that is not really there. It is done so that it can be easily determined if a map is being plagiarized. In high school I had a geography teacher who let me do lots of independent projects. I worked through a program called Drawing the World by Heart on my own. I don't think I could do it anymore, but I could draw an entire map of the world from memory. I spent the summer between my junior and senior year looking for the error in a map of Sacramento. I actually found it...it was a street that was added at the end of a dead end road. The mythical street had the name of the cartographer. My antique California map collection is one of my favorite things.
I could happily be a hermit, and may well become one when I retire. If I couldn't teach, I would still do something with kids (because much of the time I like kids better than adults). Perhaps working with preteens and teens in a drop-in/crisis centre.
Screenwriter. It's what I went to school for in the first place, and I still do some freelance stuff.
volcanologist I know weird, but I have always wanted to do this!! The beach shop sounds pretty good though!
I'd like to be Just A Gigolo Or maybe a shirtless construction worker But really a a cartographer I took an aptitude test and it said I would be a good a cartographer.
JustMe~I'd love to be an Egyptologist, really anything to have to do with History!! a lawyer (don't judge! ) photographer a world traveler
I would own a restaurant. But not a sit-down service - a place where you could call up in the afternoon, order an entire home-cooked style dinner for your family, and pick it up on your way home from work.
I'd probably want to be an attorney. I'm such a dork that I read some of my husband's bar prep books. Unfortunately, I'd have to take classes that would bore me to tears and I'd have to suffer through the bar exam and waiting for results. Meh.
