It honestly never crossed my mind to be anything but a teacher. I decided in 2nd grade that it was what I wanted to do and never looked back. I don't think I've ever thought of doing anything else and couldn't imagine working in another field.

I think someday I would like to teach at the college level...you know, teach people to be teachers.

Just curious...if you weren't a teacher, what would you want to be?

I would want to move to the country and raise chickens. For real.

I've wanted to be on Broadway for as long as I can remember. I was actually a musical theatre major before I switched to education.

If money wasn't a factor, I would have an animal shelter and "gentle farm" for rescued livestock. But then again, there a few things I would love to do.

    Fantasy: Egyptologist.

As a teenager, I always said I DIDN'T want to be around children for a living (my mom ran a day-care center in our home). It wasn't until I began tutoring philosophy (my major) in college that I found to really enjoy it, and tested the waters by volunteering in classrooms. Now, I laugh when I think about how against the idea I was!!

If I wasn't a teacher, I know I would use my OCD organization in another fashion-either wedding planning or a professional organizer.

I don't really have a passion for anything else, but during college I always worked in the hospitality industry and really loved it. I imagine that's what I would be doing if not teaching.

Oh, yes! Definitely! My hoosband and I have often talked about exactly this thing, or maybe a farm for elderly and/or abandoned dogs.

We've also talked about training search and rescue dogs and volunteering our services to help find missing people. I think I would very much enjoy that.

I was also a musical theatre major my first year of college. I would love to perform. I ended up switching to elementary education because I knew my chances of getting a job in musical theatre were low. I didn't want to give up music completely, so I basically did a double major and I am certified in vocal music education also.

My DH would completely reject this idea...as all those animals would wind up living with us!

I had dreams of living in Africa and having one of those huge wildlife rescue parks like they had in the show Daktari I watched growing up.

I realized the job security being a math teacher was much better than that of a performer. I still perform but not as much as I used to. I wish I could do a double major but it's just too many credits. I'd never get out of undergrad .

I did a decade in banking / finance / customer service. When subbing wasn't paying the bills, I went back to that for almost a year. As much as I love acting and singing, it is strictly a hobby for me.

Either a statistician or an actuary.
In a perfect world, I'd do sports statistics for TV/radio broadcasts or crunch numbers for a NASCAR team.

If not teaching, I'd probably go into event/wedding planner. It's still a far second to teaching though.

    A roadie.

I would love to tour with one of my favorite bands. I could sell merchandise, iron their clothes, run errands, run the meet and greets-anything! I would love to be an important person behind the scenes, and have a free concert every night. :)

I got a good laugh out of this one.

One of the reasons I love education is that I have an interest in pretty much every subject. I've had a few different career plans before teaching occurred to me and I fell in love with it. I don't want to anything else. In the past, I've studied some art history, had ambitions to get into some kind of urban planning, and more. I wouldn't mind getting into politics either. :)

One thing I'd actually like to do at some point is design and create different kinds of jewelry. Learning metal casting would be awesome. I'm looking into local classes, maybe in the fall if I have time.

Open my own dance studio and provide lessons to kids who can't afford it otherwise. Don't ask me where my income would come from...maybe Oprah would sponsor me? ;)
