I got a job offer today! Now I say it in this way because I'm still a little confused and overwhelmed, to be honest. I got called for an out-of-town interview yesterday. I had the interview this morning at 8:15 and thought it went really well. It was a panel interview, and everyone seemed to really like everything I had to say, we all got along great, my answers really jived with the school's philosophy. I thought it was, by far, the best interview I've had. It even ended with a school tour. They said they'd let me know in a few days. Well, I went back to my hotel, packed up, and my grandparents and I headed home (they went with me mostly for moral support, I tend to get super nervous, and going out of town on top of an interview at the last minute was really stressful). We were no more than an hour out of the town I'd interviewed in, maybe two hours out from the interview, and I get a message from the principal's secretary saying she had good news for me. So I called her back, and she said, "Well, are you interested?" (meaning in the position, of course). I said of course I was, and she went on to say that they would need to take care of some administrative stuff and start a criminal background check, and that I would need to come back and talk with the superintendent, just as a formality really, and that they would get back to me and let me know when all of this would take place. Nowhere in the conversation did she actually say they'd like to offer me the position, but it seemed very much implied. I've never gone through this before, so is this normal? Is this basically an offer? I would hate to write my thank you's and include something implying I think the job is mine when it isn't. It's probably really stupid of me to even be asking this, but like I said, it's all just really overwhelming!
