I want some ideas to suggest to my 20 third graders so that they will maybe look for some activities to continue learning during the summer; such as library, movies from books, summer reading list, and other ideas to give the kids so they just don't plump down on the coach for the next two months. Any ideas I can pass along to them?

Although the students are probably already on summer break, I would be interested in hearing what assignments you gave them. I know most teachers provide a summer reading list and have the students read 2 or 3 books and write a brief review. But considering your students are younger, maybe it would be more interesting/fun for your to have them write periodic diary entries during the summer. This would be more of an open ended assignment and they can share/reflect on their summer activities.
