We are having a behavior incentive pep rally this week to end out the year.

The event will cause kids to get pretty excited! While it will be great fun, I will need a strategy for quieting them down between the fun activities.

Any ideas or suggestions for quieting down a large group of kiddos multiple times only to get them riled back up again....lol??

We have a little saying that we use. The kids hear it and clap out three loud quick claps. Then they get quiet quickly.

Yeah, teach them a fun saying along with a movement before you get started! :) I know one teacher would say, "school, school," and the kids would respond, "School is cool." and they had some hand movement along with it, but I can't remember what it was.

Or, you could play a certain tune and when it stopped, the students had to respond with something and then listen.

Have you ever made a rain storm with a class?! It's super fun and you have to be quiet to hear it! You start out stomping feet, then patting your lap, then clapping, snapping, then do it reverse...it's awesome!:) My kiddos LOVE IT!:) AND, it's quick!

We say "Wild" and they say "Cats"--our school mascot. There's dead silence after that. Variation from Power Teaching, or whatever it's called now.

Is there a common signal that most of your kinder or first grade teachers use? Then most of your students will have at one time been exposed to the signal already.

To get our Kids quiet and get their attention during Special Activities we, raise our hand. This means quiet.

"If you can hear me put your hands in the air."
"If you can hear me put your hands on your head."
"If you can hear me put your hands over your mouth."

or whatever variations you want to use
