Next week is red ribbon week and on thursday they are going to judge our doors to see who as the best decorated door. I have no idea what to do. I have 1st graders who are very low. So I need some sort of art project that wont be too hard for them. The teacher next to me had her class make skeletons out of black paper and Q-tips and it says no bones about it Drugs are bad news. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
We are doing a door decorating contest in our school for Drug Free Week too, and some of the ideas i've seen are.... 1) A big mirror made out of tinfoil on the door with the caption "See Me, I'm Drug Free" 2) Photographs of the students making scared faces with the caption "Drugs are Scary" (this teacher used thought bubbles coming from each child's picture with things they could've been thinking.... cute!) 3) "Slam the Door on Drugs" with a door closing on a witch's face 4) A big ghost on the door with the kid's names written around it with "Say Boo to Drugs" Hope this helps
One of our Kindergarten teachers had a very cute door last year. Each student took a small child cutout and wrapped it in toilet paper to look like a mummy. She put them on her door with a large mummy and a sign that said something like... Our Mummy says, "Don't get wrapped up in drugs."
LOL! That is really cute! What about Curious George?? You could have a banana tree (each student could make a banana) and title it, "Don't Monkey Around With Drugs".
Wow we have red ribbon week also but we can't decorate our doors - ever - supposedly due to fire codes hmmm....except we are in a room with prints and there are storage areas filled to the ceiling with copy paper.
Thanks for all the ideas. I dont even have a door so I have to decorate my wall outside my doorway. Actually the teacher next door is letting me team up with her. Thanks!! I love the curious george idea!
