Currently driving from the UK to Slovakia for the tournament. In Poland tonight. Got tickets for all seven GB games and so shall be watching them play the USA (and Canada if there are any Canucks looking in). If you watch the game on TV look out for the mad GB fans,I shall be in that crowd somewhere.

SO JEALOUS! My NHL team was eliminated from the playoffs (MrsC probably now shares my hatred for the Bruins), so I've switched to watching this and Curling World Cup... where Canada is kicking tush!

OK. After 4 days on the road we finally arrive in Slovakia. Tournament kicks off today with Slovakia vs USA. GB has first game tomorrow vs Germany. Our apartment in Poprad is close to the station so later will try and see how easy it is to get to Kosice on the train. It is 150 miles round trip by car plus the cost of parking so train may be easier, quicker and I can have a beer in the rink! Win, Win, Win!:spitwater:Now where did I put the Slovak phrase book?

Well that was brutal. Slovakia beat the USA 4-1 and Finland beat Canada 3-1. GB play 1st game today vs Germany.

Germany beat GB 3-1 in a close game. Today we play Canada. Got most of the day to spend in town before getting the train down to Kosice for the game. Late face off (8.15pm) so probably won't get back to apartment until 1am.

After a 9-0 mauling by Denmark we bounced back to day by losing 6-3 to the USA. The US team costing an annual salary of $80 million plus were given a tough game by a bunch of Brits who between them earn about $500,000 per season.

The salaries in American sports are obscene.

Most of our players have other jobs outside of hockey! Still ran your guys close though.

Well team GB (ranked 22) went down 5-0 to Finland (ranked 5). So still nil points for GB. We play the hosts, Slovakia, tomorrow. Not expecting much from that game but the last game against France is the clincher. Whichever team wins stay in the division, the loser is relegated. France, our oldest foe!

Well it all came good in the end. Last game GB vs France. The winner stays in group 1 the loser relegated. After 30 mins France are 3-0 up. GB tie it to 3-3 then win in OT. Cue the fans lifting the roof off the stadium. I can't believe how many nations hate the French, everyone was shouting for us. OK we don't progress any further but we live to fight another day. Absolutely fantastic tournament in a beautiful country (Slovakia) filled with friendly people, most of whom speak good English. Plus prices are very low. Next year it is in Switzerland, will need to save up for that one!

USA went down 4-3 to Russia in the Quarter finals. Canada snuck past Switzerland 3-2 in OT to get to the semis.
