There's no reason on earth why we should.

    We're not a polling place.

There's plenty of time to vote, either before or after school.

And it's not even the $60 it will cost me in baby sitting fees.

It would just be nice to have the day off, that's all :)

Well, we ARE a polling place, and it is crazy that we aren't closed. During presidential election years we have a line of people snaking through our hallways all day long.

Alice- I was just thinking that I would love the day off tomorrow, too. When my kids were little, we used to take them to the polls with us. We would take them into the polling booth.

My school is a polling location. The kids have off- teachers are in that day for parent conferences. I booked my own conference schedule so it's not so bad..worked in some 15 minute breaks here and there and took my hour lunch...I'll be done regular time (3:15) and I don't have to tutor that day so I'll be home early...

    Don't forget to vote!!

Our kids also have the day off. It is P/t conference day. Our building is a polling location (I think most of the schools in our district are).
My feeling is they plan p/t conferenes on this day so that they get parents in the building to vote!!

We don't get election day off, and we didn't have a day off for p/t conferences either...

We have a teacher's record day, which is good because a) we are a polling place b) we have had to put 3 classrooms in the auditorium which IS the polling place (would be hard to hold classes while people are voting) and c) our quarter ends tomorrow and we need to get final grades in and portfolios finished up.

I'm looking forward to this week. Full day Monday, work day with no students Tuesday, Regular Days Wed and Thurs, and then Friday field trip in the am, and planning (subs in our class) in the pm. Then the weekend. Couldn't have come at a better time ! ! !

We're not off but it's an inservice day. I'd rather have the day off, but right now a day without the kids sounds good enough!

Fortunately my kids' school is not closed so no babysitting issues.

We do get Veteran's Day off and then Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Yippee!!

We don't have days off until Thanksgiving. Oh well. Only three weeks, then only three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year.

My boyfriend has off Election Day and Veteran's Day, and I don't have off for either! He also takes off a few days, like today, and Monday and Tuesday next week, so he just extends his weekend through the holiday. He did the same for Thanksgiving. I might kill him by the end of the month.

HALLELUJAH!!!!!! OMG, I need this break so badly....

Anyway, we have a teacher records day. My classroom looks like it vomitted paperwork after being out for 3 days straight; it'll be nice to have a full uninterrupted day of getting work done and paperwork filed!!

And, as an added bonus, it's going to cost me an extra $60!

My usual sitter has taken on a "day job" as an aide in a private nursery school, now that all the kids she sits are in school all day.

But they're open today an my kids are off. She very generously offered to pay the teenager who is watching the kids herself, but I couldn't do that to her-- she's wonderful to my kids and she's still making far less than we are.

But still, it doesnt make going to work today any more appealing!

Ah, well, what can you do???
