I want this bag. I seriously want it. But I seriously don't think I can afford it. But I really want it. In the silver pattern. ($100)

    http://www.ebags.com/product/hadaki/brickabrac-tote/153809?productid=10109699

Does anyone have any of these bags? Is it worth the price? No, of course it isn't. But I really. want. it.

I just counted my change in the change bottles. I have just under $3.00 saved up. (Yes, that would be three dollars.) It had just been emptied for the cruise vacation, and now I have to fill them back up.

I wonder how old I'll be and if it will still look good when I'm in a wheelchair.

It is a nice bag, but I couldn't justify spending $100 on a purse! Perhaps you can find a less expensive look alike.

I like it. Do you have a birthday coming up? Maybe you could ask for a gift card to that website to use towards it. :) I'm a sucker for a nice bag, though, if it's going to be one that will get tons of use!

If you really love it go for it. If you have an anniversary, birthday, or special event going on, ask hubby to give it to you. 2 months ago was the first time I spent 100 dollars on a purse and I don't regret it. It was love at first sight and the quality was so much better than cheaper purses. Besides, I wear my purses for a long time so I'm always looking for something that can last for at least a year or more. I asked hubby to get it for me, instead of jewlery, for our anniversary and it worked out great. :)

Try looking at Ross. They have some pretty good designers sometimes. I buy all of my bags there.

It is cute, but doesn't look particularly durable or like something you would still love in a few years.

I have two bags that were $200-400 each, one for fall/winter, and the other for spring/summer.

The newest one is 6 years old, the other 8. I don't mind spending money on things as long as they are a "final" expense. I also take very good care of them. One of my bags is a Coach yellow canvas and it still looks like new. I never set it down anywhere that I know isn't completely clean.

my rule of thumb is not to save up for anything I won't keep and use for a long time.

I don't think like it looks like it is worth $100. Do they ever go on sale?

Start saving up for it and in a month look for it on ebay to see if you can get it cheaper. After a while you might not want it anymore anyway!

I'm not at all into purses, and I happen to think the majority of purses are pretty unattractive, but I really like this one. Love it, actually.

Even if I used it for a year and half and then it was "done", I'd feel justified in spending $100 for something I thought was really pretty and that I used almost every single day. I vote to get it. :)

I don't mind paying as much as $200, quite possibly even $300 if I feel it's worth it & I really want it. THIS bag here isn't my style personally, but besides that, I agree that it's a lot for a bag like that.

But hey, if you want it & it will make you happy & not regretful afterward, go ahead! :)

Now I want this purse. :haha:

I looked on eBay and Amazon so far and they carry it at the same price.

The way I see it, shouldbe, is that we obviously all value things differently. I guess because I'm not a purse woman I don't understand why some feel that it doesn't seem worth $100. I like the material it's made out of, I like the color, I like the details. I don't know the designer, but I don't care. So even though I've never paid anywhere close to this for a purse, its characteristics actually seem worth it to me. If you agree, splurge! :)

I really like the bag also especially the striped one. However, go to Wal-mart and purchase the Suzie Ozmon book, it will give you a better perspective on what's important and what is not and how to manage your money for the things you need and the things you want.

The banner at the top says 15% off. Does it apply to this?

The Suzie Orman reference caused me to go back over your original post. If you seriously can't afford it, then of course don't get it. At the same time, if you're going on a cruise (or recently enjoyed a cruise) I'm assuming your'e not actually that financially troubled, rather you just don't value the purse enough to pay the $100. Or maybe you really do...and if that's the case cut some other things out for a while and make the purchase. :)

The 15% doesn't apply to a couple of the patterns.

And I think a cute purse (or a cute pair of shoes!) is always worth the money!

I think it depends on how you are with a purse. If you throw it on the floor when you walk in the door, then no, I don't think it's a smart choice. If you switch out for winter, then you really won't be using it long. But if you are one that really takes care of your purse and it's more like an accessory than an article of necessity, then go for it. :)

I love it too, but I change purses too much to justify 90.00 for one. Plus, I cram too much stuff in, have pens explode, lipsticks get lost and all over, kid stuff all in them, etc.

Well, I guess it depends on whether you can actually afford it without sacrificing something else. Personally I would never spend that much on a tote or a purse. I did look at it and see that a reviewer says it is big enough to hold both a laptop and an ipad. So maybe if you are using it for that as well it could be a good investment but just as a purse?

Basically, I think it comes down to how bad is it need? Wait a couple weeks and then go back and look again. Is it still as appealling? If so make a plan to save for it otherwise try and find something similar.

    Here's the thing.

I don't carry purses around anymore. I carry totes. I take my small wristlet into stores and leave the tote behind.

I have had the same Vera Bradley tote now for three years. It's getting a bit frayed, but is still holding up.

I don't have tons of purses or totes. I get one I like, and I use it until it's dead. I have one leather purse that I got around ten years ago that I paid over $100 dollars for. It's beautiful, but I don't use it anymore. The Vera Bradley tote was expensive. I use it every day.

I can afford it, just not this month.

My problem is that at heart, I am a miser. It takes a long time for me to decide to spend a large chunk of money. I'll dither back and forth about it for awhile until I decide I don't want to spend the money, or it won't stop beckoning me.

This particular tote/bag goes with my now silver hair.

It looks durable, again like me.

I have now placed it in my favorites tab so that I can go back and forth, and dither around some more. I may order it next month and look it over and then send it back if it isn't quite right.

Not to get oft topic, but my mom & I went to our local outlet mall today. There were several stores that were closed up, yet the Coach store was hustling & bustling like always. It's something how a lot of people can drop $300+ for a Coach bag, yet other stores can't survive. My mom, who isn't into pricey bags at all doesn't see what all the hoopla w/ Coach is all about. She doesn't like most of their styles. I like some of them, but have yet to get one.

I bought my first Coach bag at an outlet store a year ago--I love it! For a long time, I resisted spending so much money on myself, but finally decided that if I love something, and can afford it without sacrificing something else, life is too short to deprive myself.

It's funny-I am not a name brand person, especially when it's splashed across my stuff. But I do love Kate Spade. When I got my new job and knew I would be taking the ferry to work each day, I splurged on a $475 bag. Although I had a 20% off coupon, which brought it down to a reasonable $380. (cough, cough). I had looked everywhere else first-Target, Macy's, Nordstroms, Walmart, etc. High end, low end. Nothing seemed to work, but this bag was perfect. I love it just as much as I thought I would. I can put everything in there for the day, which is hugely important-no car, and I'm in the city for 10 hours a day. There are pockets for all my items and I can grab them quickly. The divider is perfect and keeps my lunch seperate from my Kindle and notebooks. I always set it on the side table when I get home so the bunny doesn't eat it. It fits perfectly under my desk. I can throw a sweater in it.

Bottom line: it's perfect. And I'll use it year round, for years. The money was spent, I don't even miss it. But I love my bag for it's practicality. Would I have gotten it if I were on a tight budget or didn't have a bit of a slush fund to draw from? No. But I had the money and was going to end up spending it on SOMETHING, so I'm glad I got an item that is so great for me.

Can you show me the Kate Spade bag?

    No. Wait. Don't show me.

Yes. Show me. I won't go there, but I want to see it.

Ugh, saw this thread when it first went up and it sent me on a 2 hour quest of my own looking at expensive totes and purses.:help:

Could you get it now to look at it and see if it's something that you would really use? You could even set it aside unused until school starts back up to decide and then you could shop around for something better or more afordable.

Looking at the website, ebags has a good return policy. A lot better than Hadaki's official website which is only 30 days.

    from: http://www.ebags.com

    Returns Policy
    Hassle-Free Returns Policy
We unconditionally guarantee all unused or defective merchandise for 60 days from the receipt of shipment. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase you may return any unused or defective merchandise FREE, for a prompt refund or exchange; the only exception being personalized or custom made items.

What Else Do I Need To Know?
•eBags will pay all FedEx return shipping costs. We will provide you with a pre-paid FedEx label to return the items to us.
•Used items are protected by eBags against defects for 60 days from the receipt of shipment. After that time, please refer to the manufacturer's warranty policy.
•You can return unused items sold by eBags for 60 days from the receipt of shipment. All items must be in the condition you received them, with all hang tags attached and in the original box.

I personally don't think $100 is too much to spend for a good bag, but I'm also a purse person so I'm probably not the best one to ask. I have spent waaaaayy more than that for good quality bags that I've had for years. They are individually stored in containers. I've never had a zipper break or anything else off my good bags.

I say buy it if you can afford it.

When I get my new job for this upcoming yr, I may treat myself w/ a nice new bag...or maybe shoes. Oh I don't know! :haha:

I like the brand B. Makowsky. There's so many styles & colors to choose from. And Chloe is sharp!

I bought my first and only Coach bag at the outlet for $129. My sister gave me half the $ for my bday so we went in and I picked it out. It is plain black leather with only a small coach tag on the side. Unless you really know your Coach products you won't even know what brand it is. I just liked it because it looked sturdy and was roomy inside. I have had it for over 4 years and use it every day and it is still perfect!

Of course, it's majorly on sale now!

    http://www.katespade.com/designer-h...l?dwvar_PXRU2376_color=001&start=31&cgid=sale

I got it in off white:

There are two pockets on the inside on one side-I put my phone/charger and sunglasses in one and my iPod in the other. I put my toiletries in the middle zip area (asprin, tampons, brush, etc.). There is a zip pocket on the other side of the bag, which I keep my office key/card in, along with some protein bars. On one of the large sides inside, I keep my Kindle, idea notebook and appointment book. On the other side of the large pocket, I keep my wallet, a water bottle and a sweater or some food. The outside of the bag has four thin pockets (see the half layer of leather? Those are pockets). I can slide business cards in there. Love it!!

I have almost given up using purses at all. I didn't even take one on our Europe trip and didn't miss it. I took a tiny, flat leather wallet with an over the shoulder strap that fit our passports. I put a tissue, lipstick and mints in my pocket. What else did I need? My hubby had his wallet. I found out I need to carry very little.
BUT-I am a great believer in--if you love something, no matter what --get it, even if it is a bit out of your budget. I have made purchases like this and never regretted it.

I love it too! I don't thin the price is too much for a bag you love. My limit is around $100. But I don't spend much money on myself otherwise. Earrings and bags are my thing.

It got great reviews also. The only question mark is that it is made out of nylon which might not last as long as leather.
