:mad:So I thought I was going to be teaching 1st grade. The P tells me the numbers have decreased so that position is no longer available. The P tells me if the numbers increase for 1st or 2nd she claim she would call. I'm giving up on finding a teaching job. I'm going to put my teaching material back in storage.

That's so disappointing, but don't give up! You were good enough to get this position and you are good enough to get another one. Contact the principal and ask if she can put in a good word for you at another school in the district. Does she know of other openings?

Take the weekend to eat some ice cream (or whatever it is that makes you feel better), feel annoyed, be mad, and then on Monday give it a new go. It definitely stinks, but don't give up.

I'm sorry; Ohio is a tough place to be looking this year.

I know that a lot of districts around me will be taking a 0% raise this year or next which will encourage teachers to retire so it does not affect their STRS. Maybe something will open up.

I'm sorry... but don't lose hope! My school hired a 1st grade teacher for a position that we thought we had open, and then the teacher said she was going to come back after all. Our P told that girl she hired that she would find her a position, even if it meant making up a reading specialist position. We wound up being way over our numbers in 2nd, needing a 2nd grade teacher. So we got her, and we couldn't be happier :) I can't imagine going through everything my teammate went through in just a matter of a few days, but she was very patient!

Don't give up hope yet. I was in a similar situation years ago. The principal of the private school I was working at offered me a teaching position (to replace a very lazy teacher). On the day that was supposed to be my first day of teaching, I walk in to find the old teacher still there. No one had the decency to tell me. I was so bummed! I wanted to tell the principal off and then storm out, but I bit my tongue (I really loved the kids at this school!). A couple of weeks later, that teacher just decided to up and quit without notice and I started teaching that same day. It ended up being an awesome experience.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that enrollment increases and the principal offers you that 1st grade teaching job again.

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. Missy it is very tough here, I almost feel like I have to leave this state in order to do what I love to do and was born to do-teach.
